Hey all,

Basic hardware (full info at bottom of this post):
- Asus Striker extreme (latest 1102 bios)
- Corsair PC-9136 RAM with fan
- Intel QX6700 (266 x 10 standard).

I am stuffed if I can get my 2 x 1GB PC-9136 ram running faster than 1066MHz.

I have tried it with my CPU running standard, and running overclocked (CPU runs fine up to 3.6GHz or so and normally running at 3.2GHz with water cooling).

I have disabled all the normal settings you disable to overclock more successfully.

I have tried it with RAM memory voltages ranging from 2.0v to 2.2v.

I have tried it with NB voltages set from 1.2 to 1.4v and CPU from auto to 1.3 to 1.35v.

I have tried it linked (by boosting CPU FSB to 1142) and unlinked (by boosting RAM timing until actual speed showed 1142 in BIOS, or by boosting FSB and playing with ratios.

Not only can I not reach 1142MHz, but I simply can not successfully get the ram to run over 1066 (maybe 1068 but thats about it) - the PC will either not boot (most common failure) or fail memtest or fail to boot windows (and auto-reboot).

I have tried various speeds and timings, including 5-5-5-15/2T (1066 Max) and 4-4-4-12/2T (worked into the 900's or so...cant remember exact figure) and 3-3-3-10/1T (worked at much lower speeds).

I have tried expert mode, and I have tried SLI overclocked at 0% (going back to the ram/FSB screen before rebooting with the new settings showed CPU at 1066 and RAM at 1142.9 and it all greyed out which looks right).

I can not for the life of me work out how people have been so successful in running this ram at full 1142MHz, let alone beyond that!

I get a rock solid 1066 with no errors at all. But just no luck beyond that.

I am well aware that the striker is a complex motherboard, and that it can be quite picky (completely fail!) but when you get the bios settings perfect you can get fantastic results. So I am currently assuming its a setting not the RAM at fault.

Is anyone able to assist by either providing some pictures of their BIOS screen settings that they successfully use to get PC-9136 RAM running at 1142MHz on a striker extreme?

If unable to take photos, some ideas on what you use for the following would be great:

- RAM volts (as displayed in bios)
- NB volts (Bios)
- Linked or unlinked?
- Other settings on that linked/unlinked screen such as FSB speed (and what is it standard for your cpu?), ratios and RAM speed.
- RAM timing settings (eg 5-5-5-15/2T and do you play with any of the sub-timing settings on that screen or leave as auto??)
- Whether using expert mode, or overclock mode - and if so, what % overclock in the bios menu?

Any other settings you can think of that may be related to why on earth I cant run this ram at a decent speed!!

Id LOVE to have this RAM at full speed as my PC rocks in everything other than the very expensive ram I bought.....

Thanks guys,

Richard

Hi mate, I've successfully run the Corsair Dominator 9136C5D on my Striker Extreme for my review some days ago, and managed to get some decent clocks out of them.

Let's try to get these sticks to work out for you now :)

1st update your motherboards' BIOS to v1102.
Then try the following settings:

Extreme Tweaker
AI Tuning = Manual
SLI-Ready Memory = Expert

FSB & Memory Config
FSB (QDR), MHz = 1150
MEM (DDR), MHz = 1150

Overclocking
CPU Multiplier = 7x

Memory Timing Setting
tCL = 5
tRCD = 5
tRP = 5
tRAS = 15
Command Per Clock = 2 Clocks
tRRD = 7
tRC = 27
tWR = 5
tWTR = 11
tREF = Auto
tRD = 7
tRFC = 42
Async Latency = Auto

Over Voltage
Memory Voltage = 2.100V
1.2V HT Voltage = 1.55V
NB Core Voltage = 1.65V
SB Core Voltage = 1.70V
CPU VTT Voltage = 1.40V

Try these settings for a start and let me know ;)

Thanks for such detailed info...it was exactly what I was looking for.

I tried those settings and had more luck than normal - I failed at 1150 and 1142MHz but did manage to get Memtest to run up to test #6 with no issues at 1130MHz. CPU was set at 12x282.5 = 3390MHz and 11x282.5MHz = 3.1GHz.

However when I tried booting into windows, it blue screened half way and rebooted :(

My "normal" speed is 12x266 = 3.2GHz with RAM at a slow 1066.

I am starting to wonder if my ram is stuffed! Any more ideas to try?
