2.5Ghz IBM PPC 970 aka the G5 will be announced at WWDC in San Francisco and will be available shortly after.
Mac OS "Leopard" will support the new 64 bit CPU with full backwards software and hardware compatability.
The new motherboard platform will have hypertransport bus (up to 12.8GB/s), DDR400 memory specification. Sadly dual channel will not be a option. AGP 8x actually shows improvment over AGP 4x on Apple platform.
Initial machines to start at 1.8Ghz, and rumor has it they are already in production to meet the WWDC time schedule.
$1999 ~ $3500 US depending on speed and configuration.
