View Full Version : E6600 at 1.8V?

Right now I'm running 3888MHz at 1.6V with a stock Vapo LS.

Anything higher will crash Orthos within 30mins.
At 4014MHz I can take a screenshot but that's all... :(

Next voltage setting on this DS3 is 1.8V.
Do I dare give that much to the CPU even if it is under phase??? :explode:

I don't think the Stock Vapo will be able to handle the load very well. It will for short benches, but for stability tests the CPU will heat up quite a bit. 1.8v at +-0C is a bit too much.

for a short period maybe, but i doubt you will see much more speed if it scales that poorly.mine will run 4ghz @ 1.34 on phase. just tweak what you got stable and call it maxxed. i don't think you will get much more out of it.

The phase cooling will help some, but If you really wanna see more, change the mobo brand. :)

Crazy as it may sound, have you tried dropping the vCore? My E6600 clocks much better at around 1.575-1.6v than it does at 1.65v (on air)

If you want more vcore but the BIOS isn't giving small enough increments, you could do a hard vcore mod, hook up a trimpot and tune it to whatever you like?

I run my e6600 at 1.65V 24/7 and bench 4.1+ G at 1.7V on water at around 60C full load.1.8V will post at 4.25G but no boot.I am going to try 2 Rads and see.I think you should be fine with phase, the only prob Ive had with high volts is burning the vrs off the mb.I have yet to see the " I,ve burnt my 775cpu with to much voltage " thread.

dont try 1.8v with stock vapo. you'll kill your chip too soon... at least regass it first and tune for high heat load and you might use high vcore...

Reading all the replies here and at Hardforum I'll just leave it where it is at 3888MHz and 1.6V and not push it any further. Can't afford a new cpu right now...
But maybe later in the summer I'll get a new DFI Infinity P965-S mobo and E6600 that clocks a bit better.

i think having your Vapo modified to hold load better would be a good choice... it doesnt cost too much though... take a look at vapor phase change section....

I agree, get the vapo regassed and tuned for ~200 watts, perhaps a bit more, and then try again. Try reseating the evap also, perhaps you have only partial contact?

you might want it to tune for Quad Cores as the price will drop drastically on July 22nd :D

Thanks Nosfer@tu,

Might just do that! When financial situation looks a bit better... ;)
Right now I can play any current game at 1280x1024 (max for my monitor) at max settings with full AA and AF turned on which is still not too bad! :)

how are you sure it needs 1.6 Vcore :)
Did you test it with Orthos at less than 1.6 Vcore?

If you are sure try and give it 1.8, that is why you have phase :)
I would belive that 1.8 Vcore and around 4 Ghz is about 200 watt.
So why not try :)

If nothing works, try selling it and go to a E4400 with 10 in multi :)
And because they are a newer reversion they run VERY good.

I sold my E6600 and bougth the E4300, it does 415x9 on water.

My freind is testing his E4300 on air and a sunon extreem fanand hitting 419x9 on a Asus P5B delux :)

but with 10xmulti you can domuch better :D
