What's a safe vgpu voltage using stock cooling 9500/9700 series?

1.55v?

1.6?

Anyone know?

I'm not 100% but i'm pretty sure with stock cooling your Overclock will already be limited by heat at the stock voltage... I wouldnt do a vmod with stock cooling.

PLEASE....HELP....ANYONE WHO KNOWS!

THERE'S GOT TO BE SOME SMALL SAFE INCREASE WITH STOCK COOLING

i'm looking for an answer to this question myself..

defualt voltage is hardly safe. I took the shim off mine and it helped the stock cooler a little.

A put a lapped Thermaltake crystal Orb on with AS3 and got the GPU at 1.75V with a torando fan blowing over it and the crystal orb still got really really hot, but if your looking to Vmod it best to have the card in a condition were heat is not the issue on your top end overclock. For example I took my stock cooling off and added a crystal orb and gained 10Mhz, Under load mesured from the back of the card right over the GPU temps were 50C telling me its not a heat issue. After doing the GPU Vmod temps were over 65C when the LCD just went black on my temp reader. I gained 30Mhz but this told me heat was the issue so getting the voltage on the GPU would just make it worse. I got it on water and I got an 30Mhz more with temps of 33C witch tells me its a voltage issue.

ATI always seems to skimp on the stock cooling. When I asked for better cooling (I was wanting them to say I can put an aftermarket cooler on and keep my warrenty), thay said just leave to top PCI slot free (duh).

I run mine with a pelt @ 1.75v safely. I just have a second 9500np and was thinking about maybe vmodding it and just upping the core a little bit to get a little more core without heat becoming an issue.

Just use a VR and go .2V or .3V up at a time and have some way to monitor temps. Most video cards are can do about 70C ok but would try to keep it within 10-15C higher then what you have it running at now, up to 60-65C load and have lots of air, a tornado fan would be best. Use a 120mm if you want it to be quiet.

Actually nevermind this whole thread now. I threw in my stock cooled 9500np, and it was burning hot just running at stock voltage.

While benching with it, I could only hold my finger on the back of the gpu for 3 seconds. I didn't realize these puppies get this hot at stock. Can't believe they can even perform that hot actually.

I put a small heatspreader on the back of the GPU and used Artic alumina for that job, i got another 10mhz of the GPU.

on my 9500pro what size resistor would i use on the core i only want like .1 or .125 more voltage going in to it.
heat isnt the problem my gpp has crazy cooling on it and the back of the gpu isnt even warm.

They do run really hot!

I have an enermax temp reader pasted on the back of my 9500pro gpu (back of board) and were running temps around 70 C !!!!

So, before OC or Vmod I got a water block and now the same exact reader is reading at 29.5 C :D :D

Now it's time to vmod and and OC!!!

I´m running my 9500np->9800 softmod with a vgpu of 1.67, it´s at 400/315
