This isn't my multimeter, the electrical guys here let me borrow it for the weekend, but I do have a problem with a volt mod I had done recently and need to figure out how I can measure the voltages on my own.
so heres, what I have..

a "Fluke 177 True RMS Multimeter"

it looks simple enough, cause I tested out the thing on batterys and such to figure out what setting does what.

but I never used one in a PC, so I have a few questions.

how do you use one on a PC?
when the Computers on?
do you touch the multimeter to the board and such, or just get it close to the board?

are there any risks?

I have a big problem with my R9800 Mod, and I want to fix this sooner then later.

I am at work so I have to keep this short, and will explain the problem later if that helps.

heres the multimeter.

there's a very good guide you might wanna take a look at, http://www.htgk.org/mknet/modtricks_multimeter.html .

in short, switch the multimeter to 20 DCV, the voltage test area, touch the black wire to ground (e.g. black wires from the molex) then the red to the monitoring point. be very careful not to touch other area though. it might be a good idea to solder a wire out from the measuring point to have the voltage measurement a lot easier.

with an extending wire wouldn't it decrease the voltage some having to pass through the solder?

im not sure if the effect is noticeable, im doing this with my gpu and motherboard and no problem so far.

Nice investment there Kunaak, Fluke is a top choice for multimeters!
