i have 1 stick of a gig of gskill ddr400 memory, should i get the same exact stick, or should i get a dual channel kit?

i guess what im asking is if i buy the same exact stick will it act as a dual channel kit?

will this help in games like stalker? with my current setup it does lag when im ina big fight, or is that because i dont have a 10k rpm hardrive?

You should look not only for the same model but for the same revision too if you wanna be sure they are identical. However, chances are they will work in DC even if they're not identical... just that it's not guaranteed.

If your sistem runs out of RAM it doesn't matter how fast your HDD is. The fastest HDD or even a RAID setup can't even hope to come close to the RAM's performance.
