What are the top dogs these days? Going to run 2 in my loop but unsure which are the top dogs really.

Res>Pump1>PA160.1>Pump2>PA120.3>Fuzion>Maze4Chipset>GPU

Was thinking 2 D5s, anyone have some input?

well good luck finding a pa160 unless you already have one, but as far as top pumps with consideration to noise, the DDC-2's with Petras top are the top dogs. They are more powerful than the D5 shockingly enough.

If noise isnt an issue then the MD-20RLZ is the way to go, or possibly the RD-30 when Petra gets it in stock.

Are the PA160's bad or hard to find?

I just tossed one in my system...

Go with a PA120.3 & DDC+ w/ Petras top FTW.

how can that be possible? :O
the DDC-2 pumps a lot less water than the D5/MCP655, doesn't it?

Head pressure is all that matters and this is where the DDC-2 wins out.

It's not ALL that matters, but it IS more important that flow rate ;)

A pump with relatively high max flow means nothing for watercooling, the max pressure is what counts. In a watercooling loop there is a ton of restriction so flow past 2 gpm is pretty damn hard to attain, because pressure drop is pretty damn high at that point. That's why you want lower max flow, but as much max. pressure as possible, because higher max pressure=more flow in a watercooling loop.

Already have one on the way, DangerDen has them in stock.

2GPM is pretty much all you need.
So Spend more for the Head Height to get past the restriction.

And then there's the issue about the dubious quality.. as in reliability... of Laing pumps. And the DDC+ and the D5 are both terrible at that.

I think someone needs to come up with a pump like the DDC - small, powerful, quiet, and 12V run - and make it more reliable. Heck if Laing did that I'd be happy. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want a large AC pump.

Since iwaki pumps seem to be so praised I wonder why they don't make a smaller quiet 12V DC pump?

So you guys recommend me to rather buy this:
http://www.petrastechshop.com/laddcwpeddto.html

over a MCP655/D5? I can see that the lifting hight is much, much higher on the DDC-2.. :D

I'm going to buy a Fuzion, a PA120.3 and a Swiftech MCW30 (if you guys don't recommend another NB block).. I also have a EK Full-on 8800GTX Delrin GPU waterblock.. ;)

Answers are most welcome..

Yes.

Something to note, my D-tek barb on the outlet wouldn't seal down, it couldn't screw in far enough. The EK barb was fine however. So I'd make sure to get those. Maybe I just have a slightly mismade top, but better safe than sorry :)

How do I make the tubing leak secure fitted on the barbs? some advices on how to connect the barbs and the tubing?

push tubing on as far as it will go, then use these (http://www.petrastechshop.com/ststwohocl.html)

I have no evidence, but I am not convinced that Iwakis are the end all and be all.

My father owns a car worksshop and a company that makes parts for flights with CNC machines and stuff like that, so I don't think a have to buy clamps like that on Petra's.. :P

I agree, I bet there have been iwaki failures as well. (Yes, I said it, iwaki and failure in the same sentence :p:) Seems that they do tend to be more reliable than the Laing pumps though. Or maybe it is because again there are a ton more Laing pumps out there than Iwakis in the watercooling world?

Sparky,

I call it the Rolls Royce phenomenon. You won't find a whole lot of folks saying.."hey.. I paid $300K for this car and its a POS and it keeps breaking down.."... "this POS needs so much garage work!"

Little Honda Civics are probably infinitely more reliable, and yet, you hear a whole lot more Civic breakdowns than Rolls Royce breakdowns. Why? There is a Honda dealer in every town and probably one Rolls dealer in a whole region.

Aquaextremes...D5s are electricity whores that don't perform well.
