Silly question here, but can you run mixed DDR-2 sizes on an AM2 CPU? As in 1x512MB and 1x1GB? I know Dual Channel won't function correctly in this config, but should the system work correctly otherwise?
AFIK, SSE3 implemented the use of different size DIMMs on the same channel, did this carry over to DDR-2?

Yah, I know it's gonna take a hit, but I was wondering if anyone had tried it.
AFAIK there is nothing wrong with that
except the lake of DC which IMHO worth it

The reason I ask is a friend of mine has a MSI K9VGM-V micro ATX and he's having difficulties with 1x1GB and 1x512mb working. Since it's a Micro there are only two slots for RAM, and I'm thinking the mobo isn't allowing the mix.

Are you sure the timings and voltages of those two sticks are identical? If not, there's the problem.
