Welcome to Xtreme

I would recommend either the MSI neo or the Asus p4p800, and for vid card, the radeon 9800 seems to be the top performing on for now. What power supply, case, hdds, etc.... those are important too;)

Well, I don't know about the motherboard.

Make sure you get teh 2.4C with the 80mhz fsb.

Then I'd go for the 9600pro out of those you listed. It's supposed to overclock really well.

thanks for the replies i am getting the p4 2.4 800fsb cpu but i was not quite sure about the graphics? either the 9500pro or 9600pro

the rest of my system will be:
enermax 460watts (is that enough?)
40gb hdd 8mb cache (i dont use alot)
i was just going to get a basic case to start will then upgrade to a chieftec full tower case
is there any thing else?

also is the ram i am getting any good or should i forget it and get the corsair 3200 xtwin 2x256mb?

thanks for your help

also i was wondering does the p4 2.4 come with its own thermal paste because if it does, is it any good or should i but instead as3?

460 watts is enough. But for that price you could get a fortronn 530watt
.
I'd just get the cheiftec case now, it saves money in the long term.

The ram is good, so is corsair. This one is your call.:)

rashio, WELCOME TO THE XTREME!

The Intel paste isnt greta go for the AS3, its the best thermal compund out at the moment.

Nice system spec.

thanks, i am still not sure wheather to get the ocz gold 3700 or to just get some other good make of 3500?
what do u think, is the 3700 worth the difference? i mean will it give me a huge jump compared to the 3500?

what do u think ???

It won't give you a huge jump. I would just go with Kingston HyperX pc 3500. For the thermal paste i would go with Arctic Silver Ceramique, because it's not conductive.

"Arctic Silver Ceramique" what is that?
is that not as3?

it's not AS3, it's thier new stuff to replace arctic alumina. It does as well/.5C better than As3 in terms of temps. But, it's not conductive so you could put it all over your motherboard if you wanted. It won't connect traces or anything, it's mainly ceramics.

Its just so you can stick heatsinks on to chipses6ts etc, you need AS3 for core. You cannot use the other stuff becuase youll rip the core of (or should i say heatspreader) ifm you take of your cooler

That would be AS epoxy, and Arctic ALumina Epoxy.

They also have arctic alumina non-adhesive type.

They don't even make ceramique adhesive.

Yeah, the ceramique stuff is replacing AS epoxy
