Well i was online checking the frame rates a second i will get with a 640mb when i noticed this 320mb MSI NX8800GTS, had better frame rates than the 640mb?!?

I mean just look at these links:

- What the hell is going on how in the world is this MSI NX8800GTS 320mb performing better than the 640mb's in most games?

Heres a link look at the FPS comparisons of these cards for all sorts of games:

It's clocked higher than the 640mb card. In areas where the extra memory is not needed, it is going to be faster.

That is one of the "factory overclocked" cards.

Would you say the MSI NX8800GTS its a better choice of a card than the 640mb?

@ Soulburner: How well does your 320MB GTS perform with your 22in monitor? I'm still trying to make up my mind if I should get the 320MB or the 640MB GTS. I have a 22in 1680x1050 monitor too.

Accroding to those links i posted in my first post the 320mb performes better on high resouloution better as well http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...ts-640_19.html

Blue is 1280x1024, green is 1600x1200, and red is 1920x1200, and if you scroll down to supreme commander the 320mb is performing better in all the resouloutions! Thats messed up???

Carholmes so far from the stats i have seen i would save moeny and get the 320mb because .1-1 FPS isnt worth another $50-100 just get the MSI NX8800GTS, unless somebody has a reason for this?

EDIT: I just noticed something the MSI NX8800GTS is OC in that review can you buy it OC or do you have to do it yourself? Also anyone have an idea of what its been OC'd to? If you do have OC yourself is it easy to OC the MSI NX8800GTS?

So far it's hard to tell since most of the games I have tried are really buggy and don't run right. That includes Dark Messiah and Titan Quest (which were fine on the x800). C&C 3 runs great though, and I haven't had the time to test anything else but I have been wanting to try Oblivion and NWN2.

If you want to run all the details up with AA and have it last through the year (if you keep up with all the newest games) you are going to want a beefier card. I would recommend the 640. I'm pretty picky about IQ so I may be switching to the GTX at some point. Dark Messiah will run smooth @ 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF with all details on high including HDR but its unstable. Titan Quest, for some reason, just does not want to run smooth no matter what detail settings are used. Don't know if I will ever sort that one out. Most games out now will be just fine with the 320 but its lifespan will be up sooner.

*EDIT: Dark Messiah is fixed and runs great with the new drivers

Can some body give me an answer for if its easy to clock the MSI NX8800GTS or not? or would you stick with the 640mb?

Stick with the 640MB version. 4X AA on a 320MB card with details maxed out will straggle it even @ 1280X1024.

The time to buy will be in 2-3 weeks. Pressure from AMD will have Nvidia prices dropping a little I think.

at stock speeds the 640MB is faster

an OC'ed 640MB will (most likely) be faster than the OC'ed 320MB
