While I'm waiting for the DFI 680 LT to show up at my preferred etailer, I'm planning my cooling and getting those parts ordered.

If you aren't familiar with the board, here's a pic (below). Note that it uses the crappy loops for NB retention.

What would you suggest for cooling this?

Possible solutions:
- MCW-30 using wire hooks
- DD RD600 block (Link (http://www.dangerden.com/store/product.php?productid=262&cat=46&page=1))
- Anything else?

Restriction is not an issue as the CPU will be in it's own loop. The NB, GPU, and maybe SB will go in a separate loop.

I hear ya, but I'm looking at this pic and I'm thinking there's no point in bothering... any tube torque at all and that block is not going to be very effective at all!

I want a swiftech MCW6500-T (http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcw6500-T1.asp) for the cpu ;) the MCw30 would be your best bet for the chipset.

I found this Alphacool block (http://www.alphacool.de/product_info.php/products_id/4010/cPath/5_18_21/chipset-water-coolers/wak-mb-alphacool-nexxxos-nbxs-i4--silver-4-eyelets.html)as well, but it doesn't mention or show how they attach this block to the 4 eyelets...

Doesn't dangerden have some kind of hook mounting thing? Like it has hooks, springs, etc.

Aqua-Computer (http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p1604_twinplex-Rev--1-2-Chipset-P4-Typ-3-ohne-Anschl-sse.html)

not sure if the mounting bracket is compatible with the DFI board though.

Yeah, I think you guys are both talking about the one linked in my OP.

I'm leaning towards the Alphacool blocks as I don't like plexi tops (looks ghetto to me).

ask DD to make you a brass or delrin top. they do tons of custom work for ppl when they ask. plus that alpha cool looks bad... see how small the cracks for water are on the grid. They clearly don't know their calculus very well because it is not conducive to high surface area to have small slits like that.

How about this block? (http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p1444_HK-NB-Rev2-1-4--sen.html)

If you want to cut back on shipping costs, I need to order a bunch of stuff from AquaTuning anyways, so I can hand-deliver it to you once I receive it with my stuff.

Not true. I use to have my MCW30 held by only one hook on my P5W64 (since there is only one pair of hook loops) and it worked perfectly. Granted it didn't have the sturdiest retention sideways, I mean if you wanted you could slide it from side to side by pushing it but it wasn't loose by any means, it was still pretty sturdy and there was a lot pressure in the direction of the mobo, so contact was not an issue what so ever. My NB temps were great. Better than now since now I'm using a different motherboard with a hotter NB (even though the MCW30 is now held by screws). Just comes to show that the block was doing a great job before even with one hook.

You didn't find that it might lean to one side or another at all? I guess that completely depends on what torque the tubes are applying to the block. If your tubes arched high and far, the torque would be minimal compared to trying to do a jump from a CPU block that's only an inch away.

I asked EK about this;

"The mounting should fit EK-NB4 intel NB block.
I could offer you a intel top with hooks.

Best regards, Eddy"

Hope that helps.

Yeah it didn't lean at all. The clip put a lot of preassure on the block. There was no problem with contact.
