View Full Version : DDC Mounting - outlet facing down ok?

I recall seeing a diagram from Liang (I think) showing that the stock pump should not be mounted such that both inlet/outlet are facing directly down. To the side was ok. Obviously, upside down was not good either.

My question is, when using an aftermarket top with top inlet, does this rule still apply? Is pointing the outlet down not a good idea?

Does anyone here actually run their pump with the outlet facing down?

With a top-inlet setup, so long as the inlet isn't facing down, then you're okay.

It really doesn't matter which direction the outlet is facing, just so long as the inlet isn't facing down (reason for this being that the DDC is not a self-priming pump).

Thanks, that's what I suspected.

I suppose due to the different design this shouldn't be an issue on the DDC, but I've got my D5 with the outlet facing down and it has certain tendency to trap air bubbles on the top.
