I'm getting a new motherboard so i can overclock more as i'm currently fsb limited on just water. Which of these two would work best for phase?

it should be the 2 fastest 965 boards, but personally i'll go for DFI even though still OOS

I've got phase and I just ordered a 965-S to replace my P5B-E. I hear the 965-S has more memory tweaking options than the QuadGT. Other than that, you probably can't go wrong with either of them.

The only reason i was considering the QuadGT over the DFI was due to the fact the QuadGT has less happening around the cpu socket, and i'm a little worried about condensation (this will be my first phase unit).

yes the quadgt is very easy to setup phase on, it is very clean around the cpu area, i have mine on phase with 6600, the phase is machIIgt, the highest that i have gotten it for suicide stype run is 4410mhz, that could do 32m

the only downfall with this board is the bios support which really sucks, abit took like 3 or 4 months to release there first bios for this board,

and the memory ocing kind of sucks on it, if the memory could be oced more i would say this is the best 965 board out but it doesnt, i can only run 1:1 on my ram, some other people have had better lcuk but not most

it will bench 525 fsb for me, ive scene as high as 550 i think, it is a pretty good mobo besides the ram ocing

oh and i run a stable 24/7 clock of 3960 at 1.54 vcore

Yeah i've read the support sucks, makes me wonder if the issues are actually bios related as i'm sure abit would have been more prompt with bios update's otherwise as it must be one of there best selling boards.

Are you going to be using custom phase, a MachII or a Vapo? The P5B-E I'm replacing is pretty crowded around the socket too but I've not had much problem with it. I use the stock Vapo insulation kit and it seems sufficient if a little risky. All the same, there is a good insulation guide for Socket 775 here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=105942
I know the insulation he makes in the guide is better than my stock insulation. If you are concerned, I'd say go with the guide and get the 965-S

It's a modded mach 2 GT i've got, chilly1 head, so a bit different, i think the insulation should be fine, it's just will be more fiddly than i was hoping for.

ive installed my machIIgt on a biostar 965pt, p5b-d and now this quad and the quad was the easiest but the others all worked out well

i personally have a 965-s on the way, i am tired of not being able to use the full potential of my ram, rather annoying

My ram is ok though not great, so i don't think i'll be able to run more than 1:1, so maybe not such an issue for me, though everyone does seem to prefer the DFI.

Well if you're using seal string, I really don't have any experience with it. If it's foam it should be no more than a matter of cut-n-fit. Not too terribly fiddly.

I'd go with the DFI as well...I'd already have one if not for SLI. Abit, as already stated, is not the best when it comes to bios updates.

I'm going to be running water on my northbridge and southbridge so that the board will hopefully make it to aroun 520-530fsb if required.
574 is an amaizing overclock well done, must have done a nice pi for the clocks :).

the abit has done 574fsb too - there's a post in 1 of the threads here on XS.
imo the DFI will probably be like the abit in terms of overclocking RAM - it's probably got something to do with still running the 1067 strap at those fsbs.

there's another beta BIOS out for the QadGT although there is no feedback yet on it & the DFI reportedly has some of the BIOS problems that the QuadGT had - e.g. no SATA opticals with RAID.

2 good choices though.
