the vgpu is plug and play and the vmem is always on since its the 3.3 infineon chips at 1.6 vgpu i get 400 and 3.1vmem 330. the other plugs are for my mutimeter

im getting the same card in a week i like the way u laid yours out. i use all sorts of heatsinks etc on my cards as well heres what my 9000pro i just sold ended up looking like hehe

http://www.knology.net/~dmpickard/Picture%20010.jpg

http://www.knology.net/~dmpickard/9000back.JPG

this card just got a vcore vmod and heatsinks installed overclocked from 275/275 to 330/303 cas1 after mods. before mod core locked up over 305

anyway on the 9500 id like to just go with solid resistors for my mod prolly 2.7k for vcore but the vmem im not sure. do u have a recommedation for what resistor to use for a reasonable vmem bump. i just want to get say 340/340 outa the card not to extreme. maybe around 3.0v vmem?

wolfgang
06-29-2003, 08:53 AM
depends on what chips are on it if u get what i got the infineon 3.3 had bout 3.2 to get into the 340s i still want to try the vref mod that might make it much better but as for solid resistors i dont like them variable resistors are much better so if u dont want all those volts for everyday use u can turn them down

Jethro

well i ended up witha 9600 pro instead, now i just have to figure out where the vmods go. One guy got his to 580/360 with vcore and vmem mods. Got him 4400 3k marks not bad for a kt333 board to.

Jethro
07-15-2003, 04:41 AM
hey thats a kewl way to heatsink that ram PC ice, nice.

what have u managed to get outa that thing anyway?

Jethro
07-15-2003, 11:49 AM
yeah another reason im glad i kept my 9600pro stead of the 9500 hehehe

ive done both vgpu and vmem mods and im @ 540/351 gets me bout 4300 in 3dmark2003

looking for cooling options for the gpu now so i can go higher. cant seem to find a 1/2 inch id gpu waterblock for a decent price tho.

SOme dood over at rage3d.com hit 600 core with his!!!

still tweaking mine, love this card smooth n fast.

Hey I ve been having an issue with my card. You know that futuremark has separated the 9500 and 9700. My card always shows its a 9700. All my attempts at fixing this have failed I even flashed a original bios or so they say it is. The second post screen does show it to b 4e45 as the device which is a 9500. It was 4e44 with the hacked bios and my freind with a 9700p is a 4e44.

so did you ever find the infineon bios to flash the card with so that you could see if that would work

i was just saying that it was cool that the 9600 can be compared to other 9600's dood =)

Can you please give me the Contact-Points on the Radeon 9500Pro (like your Karte) where i can do the VMem mod. PLEASE....

I have search the i-net and the one i have find is your card with the VMem Mod, but at you Picture, i don´t see the points where do you have the plug for the multimeter conectet and the resistor conectet.

Please post a picture where i can see it........

The VGpu mod i have ready...

Wolfgang, how did you fix that cpu hsf on to your 9500 pro?
I was looking into to doing that to my 9700 but i have no idea how i'd put it on.

Wow! This is exactly what I need!!! just, uh? maybe in english and not in german (i think?) :D

Does anyone have a comparable link to this in english or know a good translator site????

:toast:

Also, what kind of flashed bios are you guys using for your card? I have also heard that only 1 out of 3 9500pros are overclockable??? Anybody know anything about this? On another forum somone mentioned having L ram versus straight made a difference??????

Thanks for any help!

Wofgang and PCIce,

I have been researching how to OC/vmod my card. I have straight RAM ATI Radeon 9500pro.

I went to this sight about unlocking my bios... http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=33681382&highlight=how+to+flash+a+video+card+BIOS

My VRam doesn't show much only serial #s It does, however, have F-36 on it. So, now I think I'm screwed to do the OC and therefore why bother with the VMOD.

Have either of you come accross this??????? Or know anything about it that may help? Even a, "Dude, you're screwed" will help. Then I'll start saving now for a new card!

Thanks and please help :toast:

Damn Rags, nice execution there. You runnin all four mod's then? I like your safer measuring point's.

What are your clock speeds/memory type/voltages/card maker/cooling?

Oh, and your 2K3 score?

What digi you use? Nice clear tight shot's.

Thanks:p:

Ok, So I broke off my Vram Sink, Cleaned it as best I could, but I didn't pull it out because I have no sub card and I just got the dang thing all hooked up for water cooling and don't want Jinks myself:D :D

So, believe it or not I found a pic on the net that looks very very similar. F-36 is for sure the exact same positioning, and the rest seems the exact but my eyes aint good enough to tell the exact serial numbers and letters

here it is (the pic I found)

my only gues would be that that is hynx memory since thats the only memory on a vcard that have yet to see. I dont think your screw though. Just make sure you flash your card with the warp11 bios since thats the one that works best with hynx memory

I think you might be slightly screwed Kokoro. Those chips are rated to do 275mhz @ 2.5v, with 2.625 being MAX(who cares?), rated voltage. And yes, they are Hynix chips.

See
www.hynix.com/datasheet/pdf/dram/HY5DU283222F(rev.1.2).pdf

However, Tyan uses them on their 9600 Tacheon, and clocks them @ 300mhz(maybe a little more juice).

Hey GHZ,

in the pdf file you gave me the link for ( http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/pdf/dram/HY5DU283222F(Rev.1.2).pdf ) which didn't work so I finally got here ( http://www.hynix.com/eng/ ) and found it (this is for anyone following the thread).

I did find this, maybe I'm not so screwed:

Revision History

9th Rev.1.2 (Sep. 02)
1 changed vdd/vddq value
- 350/375 MHz : Changed from 2.66v/2.80v/2.94 to 2.76v/2.90v/3.05v (min/typ/max)

2) IDD4 SPEC at 200MHz changed 300mA to 370mA

So, since I just got my card I probably could vmod the vram up to 3.05v and possible get a clock speed of 375 :D

Or am I reading this wrong and still kindof screwed?

K

PS. To any noob our there who wants to know all about vram go to this PDF file and realize like I did how much crap there is about one little chip and how little I know :toast:

Sorry bout that linky......

Um, unfortunately you are still screwed.

Rev 1.2 refers to the F-28 and F-26 chips. Not the F-36 which are rated at 275mhz. Sorry man. But hey, if you thinkin of a new card anyways, just gas those puppies. So what if you singe 'em right? I had an 8500 running Hynix 3.3 @ 4.1 volts that would do 375mhz !

Well Pooh,

Time to get ready to Burn!!!!:explode:

Thanks to everyone with the exact identity of my vram I finally flashed my bios and unlocked the thing :D

Man do these forums really help my ass to makes sure I'm taking the right steps. If I wasn't in here getting your guys help who knows what kindo of bios I would be running and probably the diffuculties it would cause :toast:

I oc'd the card to 380 gpu and 312 vram (no artifacts).

GHZ would you say that 312 is my bottle neck

Before at default I was scoring 3700's in 3dmark03 now I'm hitting in the 4500's!!
:bday: :bananal: :bounces:

So definitely getting there!!!!

Simple question, If it was your first time to volt mod, would you do your Mobo or your GPU?

Cheers :toast:

Nice OC and bump in 03 scores Koko.

As for the volt mod question.......it would definately be the card first. 100 or so mhz on the mobo chip is fine, but on my graphic's card.......Ya BaBy!

Well, ... streange .. I am gettin' 375 MHz core and 310 mem out of my trusty Saphire Radeon9500 soft modded to 9800and with my ol' paa P4A2.0GHz @ 2.5 on Abit TH7II with 1 Gig S'msung rdram I can squizz 52003DMark2k3x outta it.

your ram chips cling is not effcient. Get lower heatsinks (preferably ALL COPPER) with karger 'plan' area (it's important to keep the lenght of fins to min)
Btw, great overclocks dudes!
KEEP YOUR SILLIONE FROZEN!

A friend of mine has a Sapphire 9600pro and it does out of the box with the retail heatsink 535/360Mhz....NO MOD's!! But @ 3dmark not very fast... 14k with a 2250Mhz AMD system.

Hey kokoro_kara, if your still listening, I just read a thread where a guy was running some Hynix 2.8 @1.1ghz on a FX5600Ultra! Ya BaBy! That's right. So maybe you are not so screwed after all.

As I said before, Tyan uses the F-36 chips stock @300mhz, so taking this into consideration and that crazy mad 1.1ghz speed on the F-28, I would say that there is a very good chance that these memory chips in general can overclock like mad.

See what maybe a voltmod will do for em. Um, I forgot if you were thinking of doing that anyways

I'm slowly taking up the idea of a voltmod... when I do it (not if) I will post!

Thx again for all the help
