Just curious, I am planning on quitting my job and becoming a financial analyst... You want to be my first customer? :)

But really, I wasn't worried about the $35... it just looked like a cool coin.

Aren't you Americans trading in the green-back for a coin too?

no, they attempted that with the Sacagawea dollar coin, but it never really took hold. The US Mint printed millions of these coins, and at first it seemed they would to well, but now there is talk od discontinuing the coin.

Whats odd is that according to the P.C.G.S., a proof 2000 "P" can be worth upto $30.

America also tried the "Susan B. Anthony" dollar coin, and if you happen to be a collector, and have a complete set of the "Proofs" (1979 type 1 and type 2, 1980, 1981 type 1&2, and 1999) is worth $ 4,250. not to bad for $6.00

Hmmm, that's very interesting, 'cause I've got a set of Susan B. Anthony" coins, one from each of the three mints plus some sort of $1 stamp. How do I check the types?

I,m not sure what book value is. They stopped making them because stores stopped excepting them, looked to much like a 20.00 bill.

Jeah, a lot of the 7-11 clerks in the US are not too bright. ;)

Hey LBJGH... remember the good ol' Canadian $2 bill? :D I have about 5 of them, hoping they'll be worth something someday, I've also got a slightly torn $1 Canadian bill.

you can use google to search for types, if you want a price guide, do a search for "on-line coin price guides"

I used to collect coins and baseball cards, then I got into PCs :D

Basically, if you're out to make money with these hobbies as a "end-user"/entry-level, it's next to impossible (I speak from experience ;) ). It's a lot of fun though, and proof coins rock! I had several sets, and some rare silver issues, etc... but it was "collecting" and not "using" that turned me away. I actually "use" my PC to create music, etc... coins and cards just sit there and the obsession is merely to get more of them, sometimes more of the same one! lol :p

I have a colletion of about 50 2 dollar bills... All nicely placed in envelopes in a safe.. My grandma started collecting em since her post office still handed em out for a while.. So whe started giving them to me to collect. Hopefully they end up being worth something.. :)
