How should I go about reataching the shim I removed on my 9700? I thought about using some of my artic epoxy, but this might be a very bad Idea I think. Trying to sell it off, and I wana give it to them it in as RMA'able state as possible.

Why would that be a bad idea?? theye used epoxy to put it ON....My concern would be over- applying the epoxy...Raising the shim even higher..and making it look obvious that it was re-attached...i would remove any epoxy from shim..and then only use enough to make it stick....Maybe even Crazy glue...
