Hello, I've been reading this forum for a couple of weeks looking for some good settings to begin with to OC my computer.

I have yet to find a similar system to mine with results posted.

If some of you with expert knowledge can chime in with suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Sell the Pentium-D and buy ANY Core 2 Duo chip you can afford when the prices drop in a few days.

QFT. They are so much faster and use a lot less power.

Money is not the issue. I have had computers in my life forever, I have never messed with timings and after looking into it, the D seemed to be one of the most "clockable" chips. Cheap that runs faster than expensive is my mission.

Here are some shots of the Rig. I'm going to overhaul it this week and hid every wire behind components so they are not visible..

Hope you get on better than me with a 945D. I couldn't get further than 4462Mhz on air or water.
Couldn't get more even when I stuck a 2 stage cascade to it @ -100C with 1.8volts.!!
That was with a EVGA 680i.

Should get 4.4-4.5Ghz 100% stable on good air. Should hit +5Ghz on Single stage I'd say.

Mine does 4,5ghz under water at 1,3875v and 5,1ghz at 1.5v as a ss. These 945d are mad chips :p: .

Can you tell me what settings to start with that worked for you? A Mild OC to begin.

Well I duno how 680i chipsets usually overclock with this cpus (never got hands on any) but with my board, which has a 955x chipset, I was able to put 230 fsb with stock vcore with no problems for the first time I boot up with this configuration.

For 266 fsb I've put performance mode to turbo (instead of auto), Pci Express frequency to 100 and pci clock syncronization to 33,33 and I've relaxed the mem timmings to make sure they weren't the cause of any unstability situation.

I've never played with the mch, ich or fsb termination voltages. (Don't know how they will interfer with cpu overclock). My only problem is that I'm stuck at about 300 fsb (don't really know if there is any fsb wall at thw 290-305 fsb) because I just can't go any further no matter the vcore I gave to the cpu. Any help with this situation is very welcomed :) .

It's not the board..... I have the same board and can boot at 350fsb X 17 multi with my 950 cpu. I'm running the 519 bios and max out the vmch and leave the other 2 on auto.

Well I have the 519 bios so apparently all I have to do is to try to boot up with some higher vmch. I wil try this by the end of the day.

Thanks for the help.

What cooling are you using? I assume that cpu has the same multi as my 950 (17), unless you are on phase or something extreme you have probably just maxed out the cpu. Mine is only good to around 4.5ghz on water, but it did 5.6ghz on single stage phase and 6.1ghz on dry ice.

Yeah the multi is the same. As u said I might have maxed out the cpu since I'm on water... I'm just sort of disappointed with this chip cause I run it on very nice temps (21š idle - 35š full) and I thougt it could do a little better as I've managed to get 4,3ghz with stock vcore.
