View Full Version : OCZ 7100DDR2 Needs Too Much Voltage?

I got these chips because they have Micron D9's. However, I need to put 2.15V through them for them to run stable at stock 900Mhz speeds! Plus I need to run them at 4,4,4 as I do not have a SLI board that can take advantage of the 4,4,3 settings EPP offers.

Is 2.15V to run stable at non-overclocked speeds normal for RAM w/ Micron D9's???

What is the part number of your sticks?

OC2N9002GK are rated at 2.1V for 4-4-4 operation at 900 MHz, so there is nothing to worry about. Your board might undervolt slightly... 2.15V is not going to cause a problem.

What I'm worried about is these sticks having absolutely no headroom for any overclocking. I can't even get them to run stable at 4,4,4 at 945 Mhz with 2.2V.

Overclocking is not gauranteed. You kind of get what you get.

Asking for an 22.5Mhz increase for only an extra 0.05vdimm is asking for a bit much imho.

You might need to increase vMCH to push them higher. It can also depend on what FSB:RAM divider you are using as well, ie: ASUS motherboards generally don't like 4:5 for RAM overclocking. :)

0.05v u meant? cuz 0.5v vdimm increase = 2.1v + 0.5v = 2.6v !!!

but anyway yeah .. increase NB , SB , 1.2v HT , CPU VTT definitely helps for nvforce 600's

for intel its much easier , just up the NB voltage ... man i love those .. my old DS3 only had vcore , GMCH or NB voltage, vdimm, vPCI-E , vFSb .. that was pretty simple

the P5N32-E SLI has tons of voltage that can take u a while to get the lowest possible voltage on all to get the most fsb, DDR2 ...

i dont even wanna think about how people with RD600 possibly tweak to get the lowest voltage on all to get the fsb, DDR2 speed they want ... cuz thats a lot of work
