Hi there!

Is it possible to run xgl on a TNT2 card?

I'm a noob on linux, but I have installed Ubuntu on a laptop and everything worked fine (laptop had a Go7400). Now we've installed Ubuntu on the classroom pcs, and I have done the very same thing I did on the laptop to enable it (changing nvidia glx with legacy drivers, of course), but to no avail.

You want to run Beryl you mean?

I think that the Tnt2 should be able to run it:)

Beryl... and maybe Scorched3D :D

The thing is... beryl manager loads... but all looks the same, it loads Metacity instead of Emerald. I enter emerald settings, change themes, etc... But emerald just don't work, and no special window effects, too. Oh, and there is no XGL session in the sessions menu.

Close Beryl

Then open a Terminal and write

beryl-manager

Now go to beryl and choose the windows manager(Beryl ofcourse)
As before it will fail ,but it will write back to the terminal this time.
For example mine gives

teroedni@opteron:~$ beryl-manager
teroedni@opteron:~$ Window manager warning: Lost connection to the display ':0.0';
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the window manager.

If you have the Beryl icon on your taskbar, right click it. You will be given the option to Reload the window manager and window decorator.

Hope this helps.
