Ok well lets start with, i am VERY VERY tight on cash for this build, and i need this thing running within the next 2 months. My available options for selecting ram go two ways

A) Buy a set of value ram that will not exceed 200 including shipping costs (2gb)
B) Buy 1gb of ram (2x512) of super uber awesome ram at a sub 150 dollar price and add another set of 2x512 in a month or two after the computer is running.

I was checking ZZF cus they do free shipping but if you have any other suggestions as far as ram choices or resellers with cheaper prices, please post about it.

I'm sort of in the same boat...I was looking at this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820220088) ram because its cheap, is rated at DDR2-800, and the reviews say it overclocks well. Of course the latencies are not very good, but what do you want for ~half the price of D9.

Anyone else have other recommendations?

And I wouldn't go with option B unless you're willing to troubleshoot, because 4 sticks purchased a few months apart are going to give you problems (if the A64 logic translates down here in the dark world :p:)

I don't know what chips the Patriot have.

These (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231098) have promos and they get to 500MHz easily enough :)

And they are only slightly more expensive.

Or there are these:

But $40 MIR.

I dont know how picky Intel mobos are for running in dual channel.

Is there gona be any performance increase with dual channel or not?

The OCZ Platinum Rev.2 seems to be really cheap with the rebate. Can't be sure if they will overclock well. I don't know if they will work on the DS3 either.

I got the 1GB Tracer kit from ZZF (it's pictured in your screenshot), so far it's done at least 1066 at 2.2v but I haven't pushed it just yet.

They top out about 970 - 980 Mhz, a few friends own that stuff. Not great Overclockers and limit their OCs with 6300s

What about these patriots if you're willing to do the MIR? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820220144

would there be much of a difference running...

A) 4 single channel 1gb sticks
B) 2 sets of dual channel 4x512
C) 2 sets of dual channel 4x1gb

basically does it make that much of a difference running dual channel over single, and would i have problems if i tried to run 2 sets of dual channel.

Not on a DS3, it's already 2T.

So if it was you, which would you go with?
