I have never altered my FSB ratio. My friend is running a 478 P4 that has a decent OC on it and he has his FSB ratio set to 3:4. He told me that it is preferable under Intel to run this way and if you can get a 4:5 ratio it would be even more preferable. I am currently running a C2D 6300 @ 2.975 with Dominator 800 @ 850 4-4-4-12. My FSB ratio is 1:1. Would it be beneficial to me to change my FSB ratio and could I keep the same timings and frequencies if it is? I have heard this is an Intel thing. AMD is supposed to run at 1:1 all the time. It is best. A little more info would help a lot.

A ratio controls your memory speed. I.E., you are runing at 425 FSB. So you memory runs at 425 (850 ddr). Change the ratio to 4:5, and your CPU will stay the same, but your memory will run at 531 (ddr 1062).

If you memory can take it (memtest before you boot windows), then go for it. I assume you will need a voltage boost, maybe loosen the timings a bit.
