I just redid my loop. I lapped the CPU, pulled out one of the rads, re-applied TIM and reseated my storm G4 and cleaned out my pump.

My Laing DDC doesn't make that zappy sound anymore!!!! it used to make the sound and I posted a thread here about it

before:

polished - done!

done!!

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n297/marty_nguyen/DSC00292.jpg

temps are 46* idle and 53* load in ambient of 30*

temps in old system was 54*
I think its because of the CPU lapping job that lowered temps.

Changes were:
-Removed BIX rad
-lapped and polished CPU
-polished Storm G4's base
-cleaned out jets in my Storm G4
-cleaned out Laing DDC pump
-changed tubing to 7/16"
-changed coolant to tap water and a few squirts of harpic toilet cleaner

Additional future changes
-Change out coolant for redline water wetter and distilled water
-change out one of the barbs on the 8800GTX for a angle hose connector
I'm waiting for them to be posted from Chilled PC, they taking ages to work on my order :thumbdn:

Good to hear that you seemed to have gotten things sorted out with this loop.

another proof that using a dual rad setup is USELESS

perfection

yeah, well my 8800GTX went up 2* without that BIX so I'm unsure of that statement

these temps are at what speed? :D good job there :toast:

perfection

all stock speed

lol dont you think 53C at load is a bit too much for stock speeds  I get those temps when I am clocked at 3ghz on Air :p:

yeah well remeber that my ambient is around 30* constantly.

I'm getting 44* right now as I just realised one of the fans on the BIX2 wasn't plugged in

When you say old temps were 54c, do you mean idle or load?

perfection
03-03-2007, 05:28 AM
meant idle

and he has an 8800 in the loop lol... I would never add a GPU to my watercooling loop, esp not my X1900. I can see it now, water starts to boil after it reaches GPU lol.

I have my X1900XT in my loop, temps are still good!

31 idle and 37 load, thats even with my hot RD600 in my loop too.

The water doesn't really boil in my setup. The ambient is about 18C ~20C. When the ambient is 23C ~ 25C, the temp in my loop only rises by about 2 to 4.

I have my 2 X1950 and my X6800 Oced to 3.6Ghz and get 26 Idle and 45-46 Full Load... But look at my Watercooling Hardware....hehe PA120.3 - I love it!

The 8800's delta is small on load so I dont think it put out that much heat. I was suprised myself when I first ran it, something like 37C idle and 40-41 load. It raised cpu idle like maybe 1C between idle/load.

Are you using your reservoir correctly? On your previous loop, you had your bottom barb connected to the pump. On your current loop, the top barb is connected to your pump.

Well spotted, I would imagine the slanted plexi in the MCRES will be getting in the way being as the plastic barb pushes up against it.

I have two G80's in my loop and these are my temps w/ 1.48v to the processor:

Oh really? 2 rads are completely useless? Lets see about that when I'm done with all my stuff.

Some thought adding an additional radiator would have no use as the increased restriction would undo the extra heat removed.

I'd say it depends on if you already have enough surface area to remove the heat and on your flowrate.

True, which is why I bought 2 radiators :fact:

How are you getting such a low temp on your GPU?

I really like the way you did your loop with the rad at the ceiling of the case. I was wondering if you could post a top view of your case just to get an idea on how that kind of rad placement looks on a p180? Overall reallly nice rig, very clean too.

Ambient is 66-70F. Both G80s are on full-cover H20. One has a Dangerden block, the other an EK block.

Hmm, isn't it a bit hard to bleed that loop?

Being as you can move the MCRES easily, have you tried turning your case onto its head and then twisting the MCRES so it's cap is still point upwards as you put the case on it's head. That is so you don't let air back into the system.

Then give it a violent shake to see if any air comes shooting up the tubes.

Goob job on lowering the temps though :D

yeah, its hard. I put the rig on its side and pull the res out so its the highest point and fill it from there.

That how I do mine as my MCRES is placed in my 5.25" bays too, but I also put the case on it's head and got more air out. Just make sure you keep the MCRES turned as you're doing it so air doesn't get to the barbs in the MC RES.

DO NOT use tap water.

its a temp solution, I'm waiting for my redline water wetter to come and I need to go get some distilled water

DO NOT use tap water.
If your local tap water supply is not good then you'll end up with either bacteria and algae (unless you dump a load of biocide) and minerals will collect on your tubes. If your local tap water is superb, then you might not have these problems. Even if your tap water is teh pwnage at least boil it so the possibility of having algae is reduced.

perfection

the water was boiled, I also added that some anti-algae stuff used in aquariums, added about 6 drops

You *might* get some minerals collecting in your system.

Just a friendly comment on your application of coolsleeves... with the coils spaced like that, they are having zero effect on protecting your tubing from kinking and look terrible. I suggest you just abandon the coolsleeves in the interest of improving the cosmetics or use them properly (closer spacing of coils).

This is considered "fairly large spacing" by the manufacturers...

This is more common tighter spacing...

it does stop the tubing from kinking and that's all I'm happy about. maybe next time when I redo the loop
