i want to overclock. how would i go about it? i have got to 3.2 GHz on my e660, but i didnt know what i was doing.

first off, you have a pretty solid set up, with alittle better cooling, and alittle tweaking, you can probably get up into the 3.4 to 3.6 ghz range.
your CPU doing 3.2 on stock cooling is a good sign your CPU has some more potential in it.

so extra cooling would definatly help you.

you might give a shot to a heatsink like the Tuniq Tower 120.
thats the current best CPU cooler around.
but its not perfect out of the box... does seem to need alittle "lapping" to get the base of the heatsink nice and smooth.

if you want out of the box, no modding needed, Scythe has some excellent heatsinks, like the Infinity.
the Thermalright SI-128 is also pretty damn nice.

all these are huge heatsinks though, so dont be too surprised at the size.
it wont damage your board or anything, just use common sense, and you'll be amazed at how much of a difference a good heatsink can make.

now, your board.

the DS3 has a hidden bios area, that has the memory timings and such in it.

ALT F3 when your in the bios should unlock the "advanced" area... forgot how exactly to get there... but its there.

first advice.

learn your dividers, so you can run 1:1 or only slightly higher.
this will make overclocking alot easier then trying to work with the 2:3 ratio or 1:2. those are far too high to work with.

I'm sorry for bumping a old post but that information above helped me out a bunch . By lapping you mean sanding it down a bit , correct ?

yes, sanding it from arround 400grit step-by-step to arround 1000-2000grit. theres a thread on cooling section about how to lapp... just use the search function...
