Hey, I just wanted to know how far you guys think a p4 631 will go on stock air with a ASRock 775 Dual VSTA board, thanks.

4.5-4.8 for chip. not sure on board

wow, these seem like pretty nice o/c chips, thanks

on stock air no way its gonna hit anywhere close to 4ghz.

I think that board is going to hobble you majorly. Those chips easily hit 4+ though with mininmal voltage from what I've heard on forums though.

the 631 will hit 4ghz on air no problem, most of the time it can get there at stock voltage.

but some chips have a very bad wall when it comes to overcloking, we have a 631ES and a 631 Retail that both hit a wall @ 4.815GHZ when using stock, Water, Dry Ice, and LN2, we tried several motherboards including a Commando, P5B deluxe, BFG 680i, Asus 680i, Evga 680i and all setups stoped at 321mhz FSB not even 2vcore and -150c Die temps could break the 321Mhz wall. We have had other chips hit 7GHz with out a problem on LN2.

the current clock speed record is held with a 631 @ 8000.1Mhz

My goodness, 8ghz is really just downright ri:banana::banana::banana::banana:ulous. At that speed netburst would actually be effective!

Yes, it is. Cedar Mills ran much cooler than their 90nm Prescott counterparts. You reap the benefits of a 65nm shrink as well as a very deep pipeline, which yields ridiculously high clockspeeds.

It's really too bad intel didn't hold off on lower end c2d's until later. They could have released way higher clocked cedar mills, broke the 4ghz milestone, and quite easily came out with way better earnings than they did last quarter

Don't talk about things you don't know :banana::banana::banana: about. 65nm pentiums can go 5ghz on air:)

But the board will limit you..

thanks for the responses guys, do you think this board can make it to 250+ fsb? Thanks

should do at least 266Mhz FSB
