View Full Version : Losing ground fast

We are falling behind crunchers inc pretty fast now, so I was looking at the projects where we don't have many points. I just took my e6600 off pi segment and put it on riesel sieve project llr. We only have about 2500 points from this project. I already had llrnet set up so it was easy to get going on this. Not sure what my ppd will be, but maybe I can move us up a few places. I might try sob sieve, but not sure how to set it up. We could definitely use some points there too.

One core of an E6600 at 3.3ghz gets about 17k per day. :D

I am running Eulernet ..... we lost mike047 to crunchers which is why we are in free fall mode.

I'm going to ask nnstep if he needs any more data for his WCG project and if not I'm putting both of my cores back onto PSP Sieve to make up for the points we lost today.. 500 points!! Once I'm back on the project we'll gain another 2000 or so and settle into 6th place or so. Going to need a lot more firepower to take on the other teams as they have a huge headstart :(

I've got one core of my now 3.8ghz 6400 on llrnet.

Gomeler, if you can zip the folder you use for PSP sieve into a file and send it to me, I can probably figure out how to get a range going in that project and run it on the other core of the 6400.

Once I get the time to figure out if the spill in my E6600 rig did any damage, I'll try to get that running again, and then try to get one of my AMD optys running again.

In about a week we'll have a solid spot in pi segment. I could put something on psp sieve then. Send me the file also, if you would gomeler. Or, if I put all 3 of my dual cores on reisel llr, I think my output could be about 85000 or so a day, maybe more. Not sure how the amd x2's do on it. Looks like dragon's figures are right on. Just under 5000 for 3 hours of work.

I'll throw together a little zip file with the PSP Sieve files and an instruction sheet and host it on my website, I'll try to get that done tomorrow as I need to study for my test :p:

Not sure that's true actually........not seen much of Mike.
I think most of his work is actually with boinc Australia, unless he is saving work for a dump.

So credit where it's due eh :p:

Losing Mike was a huge blow to our arsenal and community, he was a very rare person. Can't replace quality with quantity, that's for sure :(

OK I have been slacking from DCV lately to do wcg but I will help a bit :p:. I'll put the c2d on LLR and I have an X2 at work silently crunching DPAD as it has no net. :toast:

ya bastard. i must keep watch. Don't want you sneaking up on me silently. i knew some day someone would get sneaky on this one... by pure virtue that it can be sneakernetted. :toast:

I put 1 1/2 boxes on the riesel sieve project llr. I set up an account, downloaded and ran their Windows client (installer) and answered a couple of questions. I thought I was going to have to do more, but it seems like it's running fine.

I like the their stat page. It shows who turned in the last 10 tests and 4x4n is on the list twice  .

Awesome guys. :toast: Looks like my e6600 is going to be just under 40k for 24 hours. I think we can move up some spots pretty quick, but to get in the top ten will take some time. In about a week or so I will put one more rig on this.

I'm back in business with my E6400 and PSP:Sieve :p: I don't think I can catch up to whoever is decimating the stats from Crunchers Inc but I can easily push us up 3 spots for a gain of 1500 points. Got the system doing 3800MHz on air for a combined 1500 kp/s. I'll burn this system into the ground before I lose anymore points in my personal baby/project.

4X4N, how are you getting LLRnet to run on both cores? I tried installing it a second time, but it didn't work for me.

[XC] 4X4N
02-20-2007, 09:22 PM
It the same as with psp proth that uses llrnet. This post (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1953791&postcount=12) discribes what I did to get it working for both cores. I didn't use the installer, just extract the zipped files into two different folders.

It is the ultimate sneakernett project ;), I don't think you need to worry though you have a 2.3million lead and the X2 has managed 20K in 3 days :p:.

:toast:

P.S. I forgot how much of an arse LLRNET is to setup on dual cores should be good to go now though, don't go thinking you can pass me 4X4n. :p:

Maybe I should do a quick step by step guide for llrnet on dual cores. It's not that bad if you know what to do.

I'm going to put my x2 3800 @ 2.7ghz on it tonight. I'll just  as I go by.

Yeah it aint much to get it working but saying that I already forgot how too :p: owell, if you add the X2 then yeah I'll have to move over, I still need more pc's :(.

All in good fun :) I think I may have been too optimistic about catching you. My conroe does a wu in 3 hours, but it looks like the x2 is going to take almost 8 hours. So, about 15,000 a day from it.

Crunchers got 909 points today in the Vault from PSP Sieve. I'm putting it on all my machines once I get the package from Gomeler, as it seems there are a bunch of points still to get from it.

Here you go guys, read the Readme file and have at it. If you have any questions please let me know and I'll answer it and update the guide. Think I was pretty clear though

Thanks Gomeler. I've got it up and running on a pretty huge range (293000-295000), so after a while we'll be getting a few points. :D

Nice, I'll be finishing up a 800G range in about 48 hours or so :) 1380 combined kp/s @ 3.6GHz, had to drop it down from 3.8GHz as it was cooking itself. Time to dominate PSP Sieve for a little while then find another project to rape, pillage, and burn.

Thanks for the file gomeler. We picked up two spots todays in riesel llr, should be about 600-700 vault points. I think I'll stay on it for a while and let you guys handle psp sieve.

I'll stay on llr too unless i get challenged elsewhere, FDC stats reckon 27 days till we pass the next team so I will keep going till then atleast or until XSTM hits 1 mil :D.

If we can stay at 80k a day it will take less then a week :D Plus I will add my 170 opty to it soon.

I added 3 more cores to llr. One came off of PI. I have other ones on PI and will add to it if a team tries to pass us on PI.

I'm going to switch a 170 opty from pi to llr this weekend. We have a pretty good score in pi now, so I'm going to run this for a few weeks. We have been over 100k for the last two days.

I have just noticed that we don't have a team at http://www.nanohive-1.org/atHome/ if someone would like to start a team I would like to put a few computers on it ready for when it comes into the vault.

The maths projects, expecially SOB seem the most punishing on procs. I can hike up the clocks on a lot of others (Rosetta/WCG/DPAD etc etc) but some of these maths ones REALLY burn.

Can someone please start a team for me I would prefer it was a mod or a long time cruncher so control of the team will stay at XS. :stick:
Not that I am thinking of leaving or anything.:)

Edit As no one else wanted to start a team I've done it myself :p:

Crunchers got almost 650 points today in Riesel Sieve Project Sieve. I guess they don't want us to catch them.

I started running it today. I think I may know what I am doing, but won't know for sure until it's done and I summit the results. I am only doing a small range to sieve to start with.
