n00b question Question on CPU-Z

Hi,

Im overclocking my e6600 on the badaxe 2 on water cooling. I got it to 3ghz so far (9x333).

Weird thing is that CoreTemp shows the clock speed at 3ghz but CPU-Z says its on 2Ghz (6x333)?

Is this a common known problem?

Secondly, I would like to get my clockspeed up to 3.6Ghz. I currently have my mem timings at 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v (Corsair XMS2 6400C4). If I try to get my clock speed up that high what kind of memory timings would I be looking at?

did you disable speedstep? dyanmically alters your cpu multiplier according to load.

4-4-4-12 is good. leave it at that, or try 1000 (4:5 divider).

I disabled EIST. CPU-Z still shows 6x multiplier. It kicks up when running Orthos. Is there another setting on the BadAxe 2 I should be looking at?

thats definitely speedstep. its something that you might of come across in intel laptops. it dynamically ADJUSTS YOUR MULTIPLIER depending on the load required. therefore when its idling, its 6x. when its doing work (eg. orthos), its raised to 9x. disable it!

I actually read your post both times -- and as I said EIST is disabled but CPU-Z still shows the wrong multiplier. So there must be some BIOS on the Intel motherboard I am missing.
