what pump and rad? - could use your help

ok the time has come to finally go the water cooling way :woot:

zeroed in on the on Dtek Fuzion block for the CPU and MCW30 for chipset.

any other suggestions ?

I cant seem to decide between the MCP655 and the MCP355 for the pump


will be using 1/2" tubing

As for the Rad, here is where I am stuck again
HWlab Black Ice xtreme III triple 120mm ($66)
HWlab blackI Ice GTX240 dual 120mm ($95)

will be cooling the CPU and chipset for now.. Plan to add a GPU block later on.

MCP355 is stronger and is also smaller. Get the one from Petras Tech shop, with the modded top for 100 bucks.

For rad, get Thermochill.

I am still a bit confused about the rad, I can get a used xtreme III triple 120mm for 45$ shipped to me :woot:

has to be one of these GTX240 dual 120mm or the Xtreme III triple 120mm cant spend more than this on a rad lol :p:

if you can afford 95$, look for a Thermochill rad.
if you want to save some money, forget about BIX and go for a MCR.

Well if u know for sure that the second hand radiator is in good shape go for that one. For so far I have heard the BIX performance is better

MCR320 has my vote! used with 3 120mm yate loons. You'll be set. To save some money, why not get the D5 pump? Damn good pump, and extremely quite.

I would choose the triple III rad but none of the pumps you discribed...
My DangerDen MAG II LE got in last week and i'm very surprised by this pump...
He's small (JEZUS CHRIST?!?!) and really powerfull for that size, so I would say to all of you guys who wanna choose a pump:GO AND BUY THE "MAG II" !!!
I'm really happy with it and the fact the pump is so F****** small :D

All the things I've heard about that DD pump is that it's incredibly weak and has a high failure rate..

I think that a MCP655 should be sufficient for you though. The FuZion isn't restrictive at all, and the MCP655 should easily keep flowrates above 1gpm. I'd also go for a Coolingworks Coolrad or a Swiftech MCR, they are great performers for their price.

That pump is not exactly THAT weak but its really really small. The problem is that a ton of them have problems. D5 or DDC as usual, because those pumps are just awesome. D5 is quite hefty in my opinion to be stored in a computer but its not exactly overboard either. I like the compact size of DDC pumps.
For a rad, just like others are saying, if you can spend 95 on a rad get a thermochill or something. The 3 choices are basically Thermochill PA series, MCR, or Coolingworks Coolrad. BIPs are very very very thin so if space is really really important, you could consider that. MCR isn't that bad, 34mm, but you can't beat the 25mm BIPs.

I'd say thermochill rad but if that's out of the question because of price then get a Swiftech MCR 320. They are about $55 and according to most reviews I've seen outperform the black ice rads.

As for pump, either one of those work. I have a 355 with a petras top waiting to go in my rig.
