What sort of nuclear reactor are you going to cool? :)

I like the parquet floor lol :)

10/8 hose....
inline water temp sensors......

all going into one system?

I hate the floor, but the views are nice :P

To answer your questions, water cooling a 6 server 48 ru rack.

My intention is to passively cool the entire rack using multiple loops into a common cooling grid of 20-30 cape cora's.

So far I've bought about half the equipment (only 1 of the alphacool power supplies so far though- man they are expensive) to try out the proof of concept and then will commit once the trial has been in palce for a few weeks.

sounds like a corosion tower to me
Does'nt koolance make a rack mountable system that will handle 5 or 6 boxes?

nice.....

i know i say this to everyone but the bigng product might be good for your servers, pumps, ect

Yep but it's noisy as hell.

This is meant to be a quiet solution, basically removing all fans apart from a single fan in the APC 3000 ups.

BTW why do you think mixing loops is going to cause corrosion, same as you cooling 1 loop in your pc just bigger.

Dean

Um, ALUMINUM?

The cape cora heat exchangers are made of anodized aluminum, yes.

I thought anodizing prevents or severely inhibits galvanic corrosion.

only until it wears off from the water erroding it away.. After that, all bets are off.

then why don't they use Stainless steel alloys?
They are rust proof.

I didn't know that you live on the Upper East. If you look out your window southwest, you will see an obnoxious building nearby with a sloping roof. I work for that namesake but I'm across the street on Park :) I like that bonzai tree as well :) Incidently, even though you live in Manhattan, there's really no excuse for that tiny LCD you have on your desk j/k :) Now I know the exact building you live in (been in the one next door), I'm going to stalk you lol :) My bachelor pad was about 8 blocks from where you live, but that was long ago haha I'm in Greenwich CT (not the village).

Cheers, Mate

stainless steel alloys arnt exactly great for conducting heat. Copper is really the only thing that should be used for watercooling (for radiators/waterblocks).

OR we could upgrade to nanotubes! But cooling our PC's with cryo chambers would be cheaper.
