SUP, i have a system i would like to reach 4Ghz with stable, i gotten to 4 but it freezes while booting up in XP. the highest ever was 3.6. here are my specs;
Asus P5B Dlx Wi/Fi
Core2Duo E6600(running right now at 3.2 and FSB 1.6 8x400 1.425v)
Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB PC6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-12(i've lowered them to 4-4-4-10 and at 1.95v)
Thermaltake TR2 550Watt PSU
Swiftech Watercooling set up with Epoge Block(it was on sale)

What would u guys do to this setup to reach 4Ghz? or at least 3.5 stable without reducing the life of my processor?

thanks alot for any input :)

I think 4g 24/7 stable is not so easy mission. From my experience, MCH and FSB voltages and cooling are as important as CPU treatment. It is needless to say that good CPU is the first requirement for stable high clock such as 4g. Your CPU running 3.2g with 1.425v does not seem so promising for 4g stable running.

Bottom lines are 1) you should get nice CPU running fine with relatively low voltage, 2) should care for MCH and FSB voltages and cooling. I think that 3.6g is really fantastic for most of jobs. 4g is a little bit redundant except for the case of joyful overclocking! :banana:

Wish you accomplishing mission!

I would keep a eye on the classifieds/ebay for a good clocking chip.

vMCH: 1.45
SB: 1.65
vFSB: 1.30
vCore: at least 1.50 real

My buddy has th same setup all water cooled, he;s at 4.0 ghz all day long. Try turning up your v-core and memory voltage,just watch your temps.

I'll have one for sale soon :D

Just depends on the chip really, what week is your chip? If your temps are too high then slowly raise the volts on memory, processor, and the NB and slowly advance the clocks. On watercooling 4GHz should be possible with temps in the 50's or so but I don't know if you could get it 24/7 stable. Goodluck with the overclocking, just remember that 3+GHz is never guaranteed ;)
