View Full Version : kingston or geil for cas 2?

Ok so I'm running a abit NF7 v1.1 that does 250fsb with my old samsung pc2700, but that's just cas 2.5 and relaxed timings. it wount go over 198 cas 2
I was looking around for some new rams to get me that sweet cas2 with nice & tight timings at a decent fsb, and I got around to get me some possible chips.
I narrowed it down to two types of sticks (I don't have much money to spend so I'll go cheapo).
the kingston pc3200 or geil pc3500 cas2.
I know the geil should go much higher (at least it's rated speed) but I heard of problems with the abit nforce boards.
any word of advice?

I'm running my Geil without problems on my Abit nf7-s rev2.0. Don't know about rev1.1... I'm currently running 229 cl2 6-3-3. Don't know if it's the chipset or the ram. With some corsair pc3500 i was able to run 230mhz fsb. Now trying some burn-in on the geil :) By the way, why is our king in your ava:D ?

CCW, allmost 3d stable aswell, get to run the car chase test, errors on others :(

that will be sweet if you can it stable, awesome bandwidth :toast:
considered TwinMOS with WinBOND chips, it reaches high FSBs but not sure if it wil ldo it at the timings you want but there are lots of threads on here about peoples luck with it

yeah I know they are great, but I had some problems finding them. I did find them however I can get those 2 I mentionned at a price that is negligable, allmost half the twinmos stuff. Too bad my supplier doesn't have the twinmos with winbond chips, only the twinmosstuff. I'd get them for sure at his prices. :D

I've got my Geil imported by a friend, he went to the states:) And i've also got it at a negligable price (163$ for 1 gig pc3500ultra)
And the pic roxxxxxx big time indeed, but it's pretty "extreme" to see the belgian king @ the extreme forums :D

I'd go with the HyperX, since Geil usually doesn't run all that well on AMD systems. Tatte, you and Charlie need to frame your sticks. They are crazy good.
The HyperX hates that v2 Abit though.
