So we start from the points we currently have?

Or would points we get in a category that only nets us an additional 5 points only count for the additional 5 points, or the total points that our submission was worth on HWBot?

You can't get points if you don't get in the top 5, correct?

Because I realized there's no way I'd get close to those guys....

If you get points for non-top 5 I'll all the benchmarks, but honestly...I have a oced 7900GT running at 690/790, waiting on some ramsinks so I can push the core over 700 and up the memory, an oced E6600 running at 3.1-3.2 (I know, poo, but whatever), and I'm getting 5.7k in '06...the 5th place in '06 is 2000 more .

I was also thinking that the scores you submitted here on XS in the past would also be legal to submit to hwbot as long as you own the score.

I was also thinking that the scores you submitted here on XS in the past would also be legal to submit to hwbot as long as you own the score.

That'd be a really good idea as you would be able to follow the contestants here:
http://www.hwbot.org/hallOfFame.do?type=member&teamId=3

At the end of the contest, just random pick a member with more than 50 points. :)

@Shpoon, no you do not need to be in the top 5. You need to be in the top 150. The more popular the benchapp is, the more points you get for a good oc (eg superpi >> pcmark05).

You need to be in the top 5 of a specific processor / videocard to earn extra points (hwpoints). eg, having the third E6600 in superpi will get you points too, even if your score isn't in the top 150.

Check the faq section of hwbot.org to know more about the algorithm.

I'll check later...(it's down right now).

But either top 5, top 150, or top 5 for your specific hardware to get points?

There are so many fields to enter in, just look for the more obscure processors and videocards and try and snap up those points. Ask your friends if you can run a 30 minute test on their hardware and submit them under your name. Sometimes even a 0MHz overclock + OS tweaking will result in point-worthy scores.

i do have a low end pc (in sig). i do have most of the records for my cpu (except sandra didn't give me any points for getting 1st place) but it is a huge limiting factor for all the 3dmark's so i score way below what the records are for my card

Yup....rich get richer...

Well, I'll try, but I doubt I'll get close...my E6600 seems to have a low fsb wall, and my 7900GT is overclocked and still not making the cut...

I'll see if I can run it on an older rig (might not be able to, we'll see), but even if I got 1st in everything, that's only 28 points....

Edit: I'm gonna send people requests to run apps though...I'll get friends to run Spi and such...maybe if they have some obscure processor (P2 :p:) that's another 2 points.

Edit: @RB...what place do you have to be in to get points for a hardware score? I'm at 29th for my 7900GT, 0 points....

Update: So far I'm at 0 points for my submitted benchmarks

And I'm pretty sure my CPU has a low FSB wall....350FSB can boot to windows at 1.35ishV, 360 needs 1.45, can't even post at 370 at 1.55V...

You could ask ( in a better manner than your previous post though ) for a minimum entrance points reduction.
If the requests for such action were high, I highly doubt that Fugger wouldn't lower the "entrance points".

Edit:
By the way, not every high-end pc owner is rich...I know a lot of people holding back their needs, and filling up their bank account cent after cent for months in order to get their new rig.

Yeah exactly, I have been noticing contests like this on other forums that reward people for having the best PC or in this case PCs... WTF!

Essentially, this does not help promote the contest. I know I haven't even bothered entering a few like this because I know it is just a waste of my time (and I have plenty to waste, so what does that tell ya?)

Charles Wirth

Please read back to RB's post, it is not hard to get points, it takes effort and I stated that at the start.

Vapor
01-29-2007, 03:45 PM
A week or so ago, I had 53 points w/o a highend system.....it's since been whittled to ~40 as more people post better scores. It took effort, uploading all the scores I could find and pushing my hardware harder than I wanted to on a 24/7 install...but I did it.

Have faith and have fun.....it's good to see what kind of benchmarks you can muster, eh? ;)

MikalCarbine

Couple Questions..

Can we submit old bench photos from previous builds of our rigs (ie different hardware)

Do you need to get a certain score in order to get points? (like hit under XX seconds on super pi)?

And for the contest, once we break 50 points, do we need to hold those points until the 14th?

Charles Wirth
01-29-2007, 04:17 PM
If you want to help XS get more points anyway that would be cool. I figured keep the bar low and allow all with a working PC to participate and possibly win.

Hmm...

Don't worry, I'll keep trying, I may be able to get XS 10 points or so, but hey, better than nothing...really bummed out about my CPU though. I had it at 3.1 for 24/7 use (lower than stock voltage), but to get any higher seems unreachable at any voltage...and looking at scores so far that's really holding me back...

Edit: I don't get pifast...how many digits are you supposed to compute?

It doesn't take amazing hardware to get points in HWBot, I already ~9 points from one rig and I haven't even begin benching my sig rig yet. While 50 points may seem like a lot, this is a contest and this is also XtremeSystems. Look at the prize, 2 lots of 4 gigs of OCZ ram, that is atleast $800 worth of prizes to be split amonst 2 individuals. While it is true that not every rig will be able to net you 50 points, searching for 1-2 other rigs to help bolster your scores will greatly improve your odds. At first I myself thought that 50 points was a lot to ask for however I had never benched for HWBot before, now after doing some research 50 points seems to be very do-able, hell even 60-70 might be possible. Like everyone has said before, this is a contest at XS and it is going to require some effort so don't expect it to be a "no purchase necessary" drawing, you put in a bit and you'll bring out a lot. Now it is time for me to shutup and stop encouraging you guys and get back to insulating my mobo :p:

So are the points handed out like in groups, like if you have a P3 that is way overclocked faster than most other P3's you can get some points for that while at the same time I can't really get points for a barely above stock opty 165?

If so, maybe I should do some old school overclocking on a couple of my folding rigs... make them go faster than most other systems of their kind :D In the end might even help out their folding speed some :)

i did this (http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?http://www.ocinside.de/html/workshop/am2pinmod/amd_socket_am2_pinmod.html). on the only rig i have. it sorta worked. it made the regular voltage 1.50, but if i changed it it goes to what i set it at, so i couldn't get more than 1.52v to the cpu

It been humiliating enough for me to bench my 6600DRR2 but I did it coz I found some challenge to get to the top spot right know I can add 20point(guaranteed top spot in all benches ) with my 1GHZ Celeron and radeon 9200 AGP but I find it even more humiliating

Although some people have these n/a results & have been awarded points, like on this page for my 1.1 Celly: linky to HWbot results (http://213.193.228.70/searchResults.do?direction=&applicationId=13&teamId=0&userName=&gpu=&cpu=Pentium+3+Celeron+1.1A+Ghz+Tualatin&minScore=&maxScore=&gpuId=0&cpuId=1038&offset=0&dateFrom=&dateUntil=&minGpuCoreFreq=&maxGpuCoreFreq=&minGpuMemFreq=&maxGpuMemFreq=&minCpuFreq=&maxCpuFreq=&system=&minTotalPoints=) The guy now in 3rd has an n/a, but has been awarded silver. Ta,

Jim

Done!!! Gotta love those old P3s I had lying around.

n/a means it's hasn't received a global rank. Only your best result gets ranked globally. It also means you won't receive global points for it.

It does not mean you can't get hw points for it.

eg. you have 2 results:
3Dmark01 20000 points with R9800 Pro
globally ranked 3406th = no points (not in top 150)
hw rank 10th 9800Pro = no points (not in top 5)

3Dmark01 6000 points with GF2 Pro
globally ranked n/a (because your best 3d01 score is with r9800) = no points
hw rank 2nd = 1.4 points (in top 5)

=> the GF2Pro result will not have a global rank, but still has points because of the hwpoints.

May I ask how exactly CPU-Z is being used as a bench?
From what it looks like you only get points for the highest Mhz overall, but not in categories of specific CPUs.
Am I just too stupid to find the right stuff or is it really like that?
Anyway, I am in. Getting a ln2/dry ice container tomorrow, so I can play around. Hopefully I will have the time to.

I was running on a clean install of XP Pro with all my 3D Benching stuff installed. I just booted into windows at 500x8 and ramped up the clocks till it was barely stable and then ran wPrime 2-3 times till I got my result. I think the memory was running 5-5-5-12 timings, can't remember and CPU-Z stopped reading the memory timings past 4200MHz for some reason. Hopefully I can drop both times a little bit with a fresh install, more volts, and more cold weather :)

Wow Voodoo2 SLI would be amazing and lots of fun to play with. Goodluck with the cable, woul be great if you could get it working.

ordered a cable earlier from e-bay (thanx lionel57000)hopefully it will be here by the 14th funny thing is i went crossfire about two weeks ago and had a   of a time , never got it right and found out the reason was my 1900xtx i had since launchday died for some unknown reason. it would show up in windows device mgr. and crossfire saw it and ati tool saw it but when i would try to do anything 3-d even screensaver the pc would reboot? tried the cards 1 at a time and determined the xtx was dead ati is agreeing to rma it as i was dealing with their techs trying to figure it out. my 1 year warrenty expired the day before i submitted a ticket but they said no problem 1 day was fine.so i am stuck single card till the post office and ati work their magic.

More often now we have a dedicated server. Most stats are recalculated hourly.

There are categories for each specific CPU and top 5 get points
Tell me what CPU you want and I will get you the rank

I was looking for CPU-Z AMD Sempron 64 2800+ rankings, but CPU-Z wasnt one of the benchmarks listed.

http://www.hwbot.org/quickSearch.do?hardwareId=CPU_550&name=Sempron+64+2800%2B

I submitted a CPU-Z link of the above CPU and all it shows is global ranking.

So I would be glad if you could point me into the right direction.

*drool* time to go sabotage all the competition, must get shiny sticks.. Glad to see they are 2x1GB dimms, was worried they'd be the 2x2GB dimms and the OC from them would be limited :p:

edit: is there any way we can start a listing of the amount of people entered in the competition? Perhaps create a special thread just so that people can "apply" so we can start doing the numbers and figuring our odds? I just need something to worry over the next 2 weeks :)

i am just wondering, could you lower the minimum number of needed points to like...30 thats would be much more manageable, without the top hardware, you need 15 number 1 results with old stuff to get 30 points....even that is tough

[XC] gomeler
02-04-2007, 10:31 AM
I don't have anything that is close to being considered top hardware and I managed it and then some. Just look around for old hardware, it helps considerably. Every little 2 pointer will add up and eventually you'll get your 50. Shoot with your processor I could even be competitive in SPi, I'd kill for a 32B E6600. I'm stuck with a 32B E6400 instead :p:

Hold OCX off? We've almost got a full 1K point gap between XS and OCX. The benefit of having a huge user group to pull results from :p: Since this contest started we've added ~700 HWBot points or so. I could see that gap widen even further as the days progress towards Feb 14th.

30 points is too easy though.. we already have a bunch of people with 30+ points. This is XtremeSystems and the contest isn't meant to be easy, Fugger is giving away a combined 8GB of DDR2, that is atleast $900 worth of prizes, ~$450 per winner. 50 points isn't exactly an impossible task, asking for 100 points or even 75 might have been extremely impossible for most people but 50 points is possible for those that try hard enough. I should really stop trying to encourage you guys, lowers my odds of winning.

AFAIK you need 50 points, but I could be wrong. You get more points for the Celeron because more rsults were added. It is a more popular CPU than the 750 (at the benches you ran) so you get more points, as it is harder to get to the top spots ;)

I found the problem, they each only had 256MB of RAM, apparently it wasn't enough room for all that pi :p: Put an extra 256MB in each system and they ran it fine. Looking to your account, but can't find any scores. Normally they should have been blocked and still viewable, but apparently they're not.

Can you please upload your scores again and I'll have a look at it.

Owkey, something strange here:

SPEEDYNSTEADY2 (http://www.hwbot.org/user.do?userId=7339) and SRKFC2K5 (http://www.hwbot.org/user.do?userId=7305) Have the exact same 3dmark01 entry:

http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=576897
http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=576522

All scores of both users are blocked.

Currently looking into sushrukh's results ...

I have looked into your results and I must say ... I'm amazed. Faking screenshots in one thing, complaning when they're block ...

First result: (http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=576029)
Bad copy-paste of different pictures (you can't put the resultscreen behind the 3dmark01 main program).

Second result: (http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=576137)
Very good cpu I must say ... and 97k with a mx440 ??? Impressive

Third result: (http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=575899)
Aweful photoshop ... there's something missing on the right side of the final score screen.

Fourth result: (http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=576215)
Great CPU, you have the fastest 3d benchable x6800 in the world, leaving others 300MHz. behind. By the way, there's something with on the background of the final score.

Fifth result: (http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=576183)
You have benched with Windows Vista, but 3dmark says XP ...

So, to make sure you got it ... you're banned.

that's some pretty funny stuff man ROFLMAO. but on another note i had my 2001 highest score w/ my QX6700 blocked and not sure why, i think for some reason the bot thinks it is the same processor as my 74K run with the X6800

Unblocked it, won't make a difference though. Both scores are 2x8800gtx, so highest score will count.

What are you saying man ?

1) They were not any fake screenshot.Yes, I did copy paste but from my own benchmark results.I've started benching my system from the Geforce 4 MX 440 days & I'm benching now with my Geforce 8800.
I did copy paste coz I had greater scores some times ago but when I've recently benched my system to submit results to the HWbot.org, I found that I had better results in the past with the same configuration.
So, i did copy paste from my previous benchmark to the new window so that I can submit better results than what I'm getting now.I may have done something wrong in copy pasting. That's why u've noticed that MX 440 but doing copy paste from my own result should not be a problem. Isn't is so ?

2. "you can't put the resultscreen behind the 3dmark01 main program"--- Now what does that mean ? My 3D Mark results are viewable but I didn't know that putting the results behind the 3D Mark main screen is not a valid option.I could not find any rules on both the sites. So, keeping the result window over the 3d Mark main screen is vaild ? Can I re submit my results obeying that rule ?

3.I have not benched with Windows Vista. That was only a Vista theme.I've just posted a link where u can get to know that it was only a Vista theme, not a real Vista.I think you know about the Vista Transformation Pack software.

First result: 3DMark itself doesn't allow you to put the results window (the one that contains your score) behind the main 3Dmark window. That had to have been photochopped (or MS painted) to look like that.

Second result: That could have been real, I don't think 3Dmark01 would know what a 8800gtx is, but I'm not sure.

Third result: Looking at the 3Dmark result window, something has been obviously chopped off.

Fourth result: The final score window has obviously been modified, why else would the stark white rectangles appear in it behind the score? Bad erase of the real score, perhaps?

Fifth result: Here I do agree with you, I have a vista-looking theme running on my XP rig as well. Mine looks nicer though ;)

The fourth result in itself I think is enough to prove cheating and disqualification. Sorry, but we don't tolerate cheaters here :slapass:
*EDIT* I see you edited your post, so here:

And give us one good reason why we should believe you got those scores previously? Those pics are chopped, the one has the score erased and rewritten, the one the GPU doesn't match up (though like I said, does 3dmark01 even recognize an 8800gtx at all so this one is uncertain). The scores you send in must be the ones that you get now, not a month ago, or a year ago. If you want to rerun benches and do system tweaks until you get the highest score you can, fine. But copy/pasting, no :nono:
