Does anyone have any opinions on which one to buy? I was looking at the ax-7, and then I saw the SLK-600.

Thanks

55 is much more than it really costs. :(

The Ax-7 seems to me the best for the money and performs excellent. I have seen the review on the SLK-800 at hardocp but 55 dollars seems too high for me. For the AX-7 25 dollars for the heatsink and 10 dollars for a good fan. The only thing I don't like about the AX-7 is the clip is a pain to take off. I now use a pair of needle nose pliers to take it off because it always seems my screwdriver slips.

Bull,

What u need to do is remove any obstructions when trying to remove the clip from the AX7. Like the ram and maybe the harddrives if they are in the way. I found it is easier to remove the clip at a 45 degree angle with a long flat head screwdriver.

I have to agree with Bull, use pliers. If you use Screwdriver,s you need 2. But it is a really good HS.

2 Screwdrivers I don't follow. I have no problem with 1 flat head. Go in at 45 degree angle push down and pull away untill the clip is off.

Is there any need to lap a brand new h/s?

Not everyone can go in at a 45 degree angle! So instead of ending up with a chipped mobo, 1 screwdriver to push down on clamp, and 1 to pry it away. When I used just one it kept popping off the clamp and hitting my board. Alot of people have commented on that clamp and using 1 screwdriver. Go with needlenose.;)

I think it depends who you ask, I did not lap my AX7 as it looked perfect to me out of the box. But some will lap just to be sure. And there is nothing wrong with being sure! :toast:
