View Full Version : Chipset cooling on IN9 32X - MAX.

I`ve almost completed buying parts for my w/c setup, which are...

CPU - Storm/ApogeeGT/D-Tek Fusion(waiting for stock of any).
RES - Swiftech MCRES Micro.
RAD - Thermochill PA120.3(custom mount thanks to Vapor).
VGA - EK full cover SLI setup.
PUMP - LAING DDC/Petra`s top.
TUBE - Materkleer 7/16id(5/8od).

This is gonna be cooling C2D E6600 on Abit IN9 32X - MAX. I`m thinking of removing the heatpipes and watercooling the chipset. Can anyone recommend any good chipset blocks, remembering i will be running SLI.
I`m gonna cut the heatpipe down and replace the mofset sink and attach a 40mm fan to keep it cool, just need help on the chipset, cant seem to find anything for 680 chipset. I read somewhere the southbridge doesn`t get too hot so maybe i could get away with a slim chipset fan on there.

DD do one!

I'd get hold of an Asus PWMR cooler for the mofsets. Ebay for that!

SB i'd put a bigger one on as they do get hot

MCW30 for the chipset, it'll blend in with your other parts look-wise, it's relatively cheap and performs as well as any other block :)

u sure it fits properly? I have yet to see someone confirm that as I'm also in the same boat.

Yeah just bolt it on and it'll work, use the same holes as the stock heatpie nasty comen thing does

OK i`ve looked at both blocks, i assume the Swiftech is mounted using AMD retention fittings, because the intel method of wire clips wont work. The DangerDen looks ok but im`m not sure how it works in SLI(very little room to work with) it does say sli fittings inluded but does not illustrate how it works.

"Includes:
Complete Block Assembled with Top, and Gaskets
High Flow G 1/4 1/2", 3/8", or 1/4" OD Fittings and additional SLI Fitting
Low flow restriction low pressure drop
Please leak test 24hrs upon receipt"

Price wise there`s not much between them so, which one is best.

I don't think there has been a test done. If you going swiftech cpu block get an nb to match!

Do you mean the kind of passive heatsink seen on this board...
If so i`d be better off using the copper one that`s already on there.
SB cant put a bigger sink on there isn`t enough room behind graphics card, so it must be slim.

Be sure to take off the heatsinks on your mobo, they probably have some pinkish or some other color thermal tape or pads that suxxor. It feels like dried up chewing gum... I did that today, and replaced everything with AS5

Already know about the crappy thermal tape, i have AS5 and AC on standby:D and i did say in first post i was taking off the heatpipes to replace with altrnative cooling.

Pete this is the board i`ve got, Northbridge won`t be a problem, it`s the southbridge thats gonna be a hassle, once both my VGA`s are in there`s very little room to work with. Not sure if the Asus blower will fit or if i could get it in UK. Think i`m gonna get the D/D 680 block for northbridge, see what sli fittings are like and if it looks ok order another for southbrige.

Thats ok, i looked at passive heatsinks before but i`d prefer active cooling on southbrigde. If i cant get a water block to fit i`d at least like a low profile fan cooler as seen on many DFI boards. This is the D/D block i`ve been looking at. I might order one today and see what sli fittings are like, if it works out i will order another.

Ok seeing the problems people are having with the Abit IN9 32X - MAX board i`m not buying anything specially for it yet. Was gonna wait till i had all W/C parts before i installed the board but now, i`m gonna put board in tommorow and see if i`ve bought a turkey...:(

Well here is a nice waterblock that will fit to the NB.I ordered one and it was shipped from Germany to Greece today so I will have it this week together with the Abit IN9 32MAX. I read somewhere in a forum (don't remember where) that someone that has an ABIT IN9 32MAX confirmed that it fits.

And here is the link to the item in the store (Alphacool)

I think they ship everywhere in Europe and their site can bee seen in English too.

They also have some PWM coolers

and I think that the same user said that the universal one will fit this ABIT.

Dont worry I'm sure there will be a ton of custom parts for this motherboard, this is going to be one hell of a board (a definate worthy replacement to my abit ic7-max's). Cant wait for them to be released in the USA.
