From memtest offical forum (http://forum.x86-secret.com/showthread.php?t=5871)

After more than a year without any update due to some lack of time, here is Memtest86+ V1.70 ! This new version comes with complete support for many new chipsets and many new CPUs, including Intel Core/Core2 and AMD K8 with DDR2 memory. Memtest86+ V1.70 now includes a new DMI polling feature in order to show all the memory-related DMI informations (conf. menu -> Error Report mode -> Show DMI Info). Users can enable a new option in configuration menu which will be able to show the exact memory stick that failed. This option require a fully DMI-compliant BIOS.

Here is the complete changelog :

- Added new DMI polling feature
- Added Support for Core/Core2 Solo/Duo/Quad CPU
- Added Support for AMD K8 with DDR2 Memory
- Added Support for Intel CPU with 192/384 KB L2 Cache
- Added Support for FB-DIMM based memory (DMI)
- Added Detection for ALI CyberAladdin-T (M1644)
- Added Detection for Turion 64 X2
- Added Detection for AMD K8 with unknown chipsets
- Added Support for ATi Radeon xPress 3200
- Added Support for Intel i975X
- Added Support for Intel Q965/P965
- Added Support for Intel Q963/Q965
- Some bug fixes

Thanks to Jesper Ekhall for betatesting and to Joachim D. for the DMI function.

does nothing for me.

shows no chipset information at all on my P5B deluxe.
no ram speed, or cas.

so basically does nothing more then test.
cant use it for reviews or anything if I can't get any information off it.

Maybe a bug ?
Chipset Support list includes 965P.
Considering that it should at least display the basic timings :(

Might try it out with a 975X & 680i mobo later :)

It doesn't recognize either of my chipsets:
1. Intel P965
2. NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI

I thought the Intel P965 chipset would work. If it works on HamidFULL's DS4 then why wouldn't it work on my DS3?

For me 975X's were no problem for me so far, 650i & 680 were no go. Course I didn't see it on the support list so I didn't expect it to work.:)

you need to copy boot sectors in order for your pc to see the drive as bootable and then go into you bios and select the usb as you primary.

some usb key drives come with software to automate this but if you dont you will need to copy the bootsectors yourself from another device.

there are many guides, google will help you ;)

theres a hp tool out there that will make a key bootable.

I tried using that once, and it completely wiped out the first 1800MB of my C: drive :( I just started the process, and all of a sudden BSOD and Windows didn't boot anymore. I tried for hours to recover my partition without erasing anything, but I ended up having to reformat my entire drive, losing all my media in the process. Recovery programs reported all kinds of different things.. an 1800MB RAW partition, or one huge messed up 60GB RAW drive (my NTFS C: drive size) along with my 170GB D: partition that I ruined in the "fixing" process. Luckily I had the important stuff (music) backed up. Lost a 40 hour Oblivion save though which pissed me off

I may have been using it wrong, but I recommend that unless you know exactly what you're doing with this, don't use it :(
