We all know Zelda is the best game on the Wii right now. But what would be the 2nd place game for everyone. So far I love Madden '07. It is pretty good and I like the way they used the Wii Remote for the game controls.

I have heard mixed reviews on Red Steel. Just wondering who actually has it and what they think of it and any other games you guys might have. I want reasons why. Not just people saying this game or that game is good.

Thanks.

Red Steel was good in concept but poor in execution. It looks a lot better than it plays.

From all the reviews I have read Twilight Princess is the only game that has done the Wii any justice yet. If I had to choose a second I would go with Rayman: Raving Rabbids.

Look for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption early next year.

the only game i would play is Wii + sledge hammer = the only fun it is, plus the graphics are better :p:

If that's the case, then thread isn't for you. Go spam elsewhere.

Soul, thanks for the heads-up on Metroid. Metroid is a great game, that's been around for a long time! I can't wait to see how this one plays out.

I'm also hoping StarFox will come out. Since, the idea of using the controllers to control your ship seems awesome!

then only game that might be worth it is a star wars game, and the whole game has to be light saber battles. c'mon it would be cool as he!!.

I thought Raving Rabbids was a pretty good game, though im still waiting for the next metroid which i have no doubt will be awesome on wii..

And to tell u the truth, i enjoy the gamecube zelda more than the wii version, graphics r exactly the same and the controls just feel a little better to me on gamecube.

Yeah that would be a lot of fun, as long as your character follows your exact movements. In Red Steel, there are pre-programmed swings and actions that you activate by swinging the wi-mote, it doesn't follow your actual swings so you can't really "swordfight" like you want.

carbon is one of the most fun games for the wii... the steering wheel factor is soooo fun... takes a good 10 mins to get the hang of it... also i have it on my computer with a ps2 controller, as well and it just isn't nearly as fun without the wiimote..

far cry is fun.. graphics SUCKKKKKKKK...... but the gameplay and missions are pretty good...

splinter cell.. well im a SC fan and all i have to say is why didint these controllers(wiimote / nun chuck) came out a long time ago.. it makes the game 2 times more fun..

jsut give the developers more time.. the controllers are a big part of the games. so if the controllers are set up nice. the games will be more fun to play..

my 2 cents

I have Zelda, Madden, Red Steel, FarCry, Rapala Tourny Fishing, and CoD3. I seem to find time to play all of them to be honest with ya, and none of them dissapoint me. Whenever I sit down and start playing any of them I get sucked in for hours at a time. None of them bore me or displease me enough to stop playing. I would however say that out of that batch of game FarCry is probably the most poorly executed game, but it's still VERY fun (in my book at least). The only thing I've noticed about FarCry that really pisses me off is the fact that you have to be close enough to the TV or it tells you to move closer, and on my bigscreen I have to sit about 3 feet in front of it in order not to get that message, totally get's annoying.

The gameplay of CoD3 is amazing, I love the CoD franchise all together, very very fun games and great maps/scenarios. I definately suggest you give it a try if you haven't already. Red Steel is also great but the controls could use a little work, the graphics are pretty good in this one for the Wii as well.

Rapala Tourny Fishing is an absolute blast. My dad and I take turns reeling in the lunkers. It reminds us both of a game that I had for Super Nintendo that we would play hours of. Fishing + Wii = made for each other, same with golf games. I'm eagerly anticipating the launch of Woods '07 for the Wii. Back to Rapala Tourny Fishing, the gfx aren't all that stunning, but it's a damn fishing game, do the gfx really matter all that much? The controls are good and fighting the fish is pretty realistic, the only turn-off is the viewing angles of your lure, they are limited and it can get frustrating at times. Rapala did do a great job of including a great array of fishing gear, upgrades, and unlocks. You can use every Rapala lure made in all of the official colors, and choose from a good assortment of lines for example. As you work through the tournaments you also unlock additional lures and bigger, badder, faster bass boats from Ranger and Lund. Great game, also highly recommended if you're in to that sort of thing.

But as we all know, the best game ever for the Wii is by far Zelda. With the graphics engine being coded specifically for Hollywood and the controls designed solely around the Wiimote it's a sureshot winner both visually and gameplay wise.

I have also heard great things about Trauma Center, I'm thinking about picking that up next.

Rapala Tourny Fishing sounds cool, I was a big fan of Sega bass fishing in the dim & distant past on my Dreamcast

I can't get into CoD3 at all, I literally couldn't hit a barn door with a machine-gun in that game, so I've given up on it  The Rayman game kept my attention for an hour or so but I've not picked it up again either. I'm too busy playing Wii tennis now the gf has finished Zelda

Wario Ware just came out. My friend and I spent HOURS after shcool playing it. Its so fecking fun its rediculous. Vibrant, colorful, goofy, paper mario-ish graphics; funny sounds and cool music; but the varienty of microgames is staggering. Not only are there a butt-ton of games, theres a variations in every one of them making for a completely random experience. Its super duper fun, but i imagine it wouldnt be as great by yourself. If you dont have buddies to play it with, it might not be that good.
Rayman is very funny also. Games are fun, but not as plentiful as wario ware.
Looking forward to the new mario game, Wii Play (basically another, better wii sports with more/cooler games) in Feb. or Mar., a mario party, and the Smash bros game which is due June 1st IIRC.

I've had my wii for 1 month.

Played wii sports, wii play, wario, excite truck, monkey ball, tony hawk.

The best game so far is excite truck without any doubt. I don't know what it is, but sometimes I can't put the wiimote down.
Monkey ball was cool too. I'll be looking to rent Zelda to see if it's worth buying.

I've gotta go with either Rayman or Wario.

the fast paced nature really draws me in and the fact that if the Wiimote doesnt react how i would hope within 10 seconds im immersed in another game.

I must say that in comparison, Wario is better for just fast paced gameplay, where as Rayman requires some ( very small) patience and some seriously buff arms.

lots of fast paced movements in Rayman for 30 second intervals where as Wario is short burst (5 seconds if that ) of movement.

Jaws, Zelda is a musthave if you ask me.
Best programmed game I played so far.
I like red steel somewhat aswell, but it would have needed some bug fixing :/

Wii sports is also quite funny, but now after 3 months its getting a little boring. I a, waiting for ,ario party to come out. That should be funny in multiplayer mode :)

Excite Truck is our hands down favorite, having had our Wii since around Christmas. The further you get in the levels, the harder and more fun it gets.

Otherwise Wii Sports still is very fun, WiiPlay is ok but not superb, and Monkeyball just is too contrived for me personally. Want to try Madden 07 soon.

I got Mario Party 8 today and I must say its funny after having a few beers. Its definately not worth getting if you play it alone from what I can tell.
I only have 2 remotes, but playing with 2 peopel was already quite funny. I bet its a really good party game with 4 players.

Its rated age 3+, so its a game for kids mainly, so its sometimes a little boring. The minigames are fun, but you have to either buy or win them, to play the, seperately.

DBZ: BT2 is fun even if you're not a DBZ fan. Although DBZ fans definatley get a pretty good kick out of it. Wii Sports is definatley fun to pick-up from time to time. I heard Tony Hawk is a good game once you get into it, but I haven't really gotten into it yet. SSX Blur is definatley the best SSX since Tricky (although everyone says I'm crazy and SSX:3 is the real :banana::banana::banana: but whatever).

Smash Bros. will be awesome, probably one of the best Wii games, if not the best Wii game, to ever come out. Just like Melee for teh cube. Mario Kart Wii will also be good (although I love Mario Kart and my opinion on the series is extremley biased).

I also have Wii sports(obviously) Wii play(good), Wario smooth moves(good) and GT pro series(not very good)

I am getting a few more games for my birthday/xmas and was hoping for honest opinions and other recommendations. Here is the list:

Mario Galaxy

Resident Evil 4
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games
Lego star wars : The complete saga

I was scratching my head, until i read the post date :D Galaxy wasn't out at that point so i'll let you off with it...

Mario Galaxy is of course the best Wii game by far.

On the Zelda thing, some people have argued that it's not a true contender for the spot as it's also on gamecube  I see it as a wii game myself, as that's what i played it on, and you can't beat using the wiimote for firing arrows.

Actually all arguments point to it being a cube game at heart, it was developed primarily for it and actually delayed so that they could port it and add wii motion support - it was originally scheduled for christmas 2005 release. They then repositioned it as a launch title for the Wii, a smart move in my opinion.

In fact i believe they actually pushed back the cube release to a month or so later than the Wii version, creating confusion.

I am surprised to not have heard SSB:B mentioned yet. It is by far my favorite game for the Wii. While the single player aspect of the game isn't that great it is the best non-online multiplayer game for any system imho (assuming your friends are of equal skill).

To Jaws, no I am not even close to running out of space, although I haven't bought any of the retro games to be fair. I have heard that since Reggie has official admitted there is a problem with storage that they will come out with some sort of external hd attachment.

As for the Zelda talk I have a friend (yeah, I know how that sounds) and a cousin who play tested the game that was supposed to come out in 2005 and they both said that it has been changed drastically. Most of the change was in art style though. The whole Eldin bridge boss battle was actually in the original game as were some other things.

It is the best multiplayer, but obviously zelda and mario don't fit into that catagory. The online isn't great, but i always said you can't play smash brothers with even a little lag since they announced the online mode 2-3 years ago. Offline is where it's at.

I have finished redsteel and I thought it was great. I actually found the sword fights very frustration because the motion detection is often in-accurate, where as in another sword game I have its very good (cant remember the name damn it)...

Super smash brother rocks hard dudes. It's easily my favourite, you can do the single player mode as co-op with two players, or go all out brawls with 4 players, which i reckon is great, i love playing it multi-player, awsome game, and lots to unlock to give you more hours of playing before getting sick of it.

NFS carbon was good, but already having played it on PC, and it didn't compare really.

Mario and sonic at the olympic games is also good, and great for multi-player.

I would like to know, I wanted to put my smash bro's save one my SD card, its very big, uses 280blocks, I think thats about 28mb, and it wont let me do it. I can copy anything else, but not that file, even though ive got over 1000 empty blocks on the card as it only has a couple of back saves on it....

It's actually a Gamecube game that at the last minute was turned into a Wii game. It was in development for Gamecube originally but since the system did poorly and the Wii was released prematurely, Nintendo decided to port it to Wii. It was released on the GC later as originally intended (I'm guessing) due to pressure from people who bought GC on the promise of the new Zelda game.

This is true. It was originally a GameCube game. Interestingly, the game actually has sharper textures on the GameCube version. I own both versions of the game and with both games running on the same screen at 480p, the GameCube version looks better.

In addition, the GameCube version allows control of the camera using the C-stick and you can charge your spin attack by holding B. Both of these features are not present in the Wii version ultimately leading to, in my opinion, the GameCube version being better than the Wii version.

In my opinion, the best game on Wii is probably Smash Brawl.
