Hi,
I'm building a new system and have about $70 to spend on a sound card, right now my speakers aren't great for gaming but they will be upgraded in the future. I was considering an x-fi card but I'm not sure whether it's worth it or not. Any suggestions?

I agree, Xtreme music is best quality for the $, they used to have a $20 rebate on it:confused:

Any one know if the Xtreme Gamer uses cpu to process or is that just the Xtreme Audio??

Since I don't have a set budget and the amount of money I can spend on the card may go down, are there any cards I should strongly consider that are a little cheaper, and will I notice that much of a difference between something like a $50 card and an x-fi card, if I'm not using top of the market speakers?

are u sure that the Xtreme Audio use the cpu, cause this makes it not better than the 2 ZS at all

i am using my XtremeMusic with a very low end headphones, i bought from Egypt for 25LE which equals 4.3$ and sure i can feel the diff specially in games

the 7.1 feature in X-Fi is awesome in gaming with headphones

Yeah im almost positive the *Xtreme Audio* uses the cpu, i've heard of large fps drop during game, supposedly an SB Live 24-bit preforms better in game (not sound quality)

ZS has a DSP processor, so I dont think it uses the cpu...
