I'm thinking of asking for a laptop for my birthday. I was fooling around with some Alienware configurations and the best and only video card they have is the Radeon 9000 Pro. Is it possible to get anything better than that on a laptop yet? I want like a 9500 or 9700 Pro, eheh.

AFAIK the best out is the 9kpro. I saw rumors of a 9500 mobility, but I haven't seen anything.

I have a buddy with a Dell with that 9kpro. It gets around 8k in 3d2k1. About the same as a g3ti200.

www.sagernotebooks.com is the best for laptops at a good price.

Price isn't a huge deal since it will be a gift, eheh. Also, I can get a discount on Alienware since I work at Best Buy.

I'd rather have a Radeon. Ever since I upgraded from 4600 to 9700, I can't go back to nvidia image quality.

8k in 3dmark is pretty impressive for a laptop. i can't wait to see what the 9500 mobility can do.

Any idea when the 9500 Mobility is supposed to be out? My birthday is less than 2 months and I'd like to have it ordered a month before then...

Don't get an Alienware, all they are, are Sager or Prostar laptops (few other brands too) that are fit up with pretty colours and cost a lot more.

:DCheck out ryan's site and this one: www.pro-star.com for some really sweet laptops with the Radeon 9000.:D

Most of these have like standard coax input (TV), USB 2.0, SPDIF, Firewire, some even have built in detachable mp3 players.

Radeon 9500 or something would rock in a laptop, but they are fighting heat and battery power. Thats why most of these computers have vents on all sides and 2 fans on the bottom. HOT!

My dads laptop (fortune technology same as the Alienware cases but in grey :)) has an PIV 2.4 533, 512MB ram, 40GB HDD, Mobility Radeon 9000 Pro and I'm totally impressed :)

It runs Rallisport challenge fine @ 1024, NFS6HP2, Ghost Recon, NFS PU etc etc at acceptable frame rates on a lovely LCD :)

Only prob is trying to get drivers for it
