I am running an opteron 170 @ 3ghz, 31c idle, and @ 1.6v

When I load up orthos, my vcore drops from 1.600 to 1.552, and at that moment, orthos fails.

Is this type of voltage drop normal under load? If not, whats most likely the primary reason for it?

Thanks guys.

two questions for you

what brand of power supply and wattage that it is ?

have you checked if you had a voltage problem before you overclocked ?

Its an Enermax 600w, and no, I didnt pay attention to it prior, as this is the first cpu on this mb I've tried to really push.

seems to be normal for these boards, unfortunately, me an jamex have said our problem here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=96900&page=109 seems it is just an issue with this board.

My A8R32-MVP has a different "problem" - while idle the Vcore bounces between 1.35V (stock) and 1.4V. When loaded it stops bouncing and stabilizes at 1.36V...
I don't know if it is PSU or just a voltage regulator instability.

That isnt a bad fluctuation, it could be a little better like 1.57 but i dont think its worth worrying about if everything else is working fine.
