Is it posseple to run 3.0 ghz with a E-6600 boxcooler on?
i just almost did it.
i used the ASUS AI overclock, and Ntune to fix the memory.
now i ask, can anyone help me getting over the magic number 3000 Mhz with a box cooler.

System:
Motherboard. ASUS p5nSLI
Memory. No clue.. Sorry. (look at attachments, maby you can tell me.)
CPU. Core 2 duo E-6600
CPU cooling. BOX
Other cooling. 1x 100x100 mm fan near the CPU to pull out hot air.
PSU. Dunno, too tired to chek, but ill check tomorrow.
GFX. Gforce 7900GTX a little clocked, standard 650mhz

i have runned a stress test/benchmark and it was stabil for thoes 20 mins. and played MFS:MW for 2 hours after and no probs. (know its a old game, but i havent got time to get a desent on.. yet)
the resulution on attachmests is pretty bad, but my monitor is best at that setting, and had to compress a lot to get below 200 kbs. :fact:

hope to hear suggestions soon, and hopefully links to better OC programs.

Regards.
Me!

Try to beat my 3704mhz on box cooler, 3000mhz is nothin :p:

to help:
coretemp to read proper temps of both cores :
Coretemp (http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/)

Stability test:
Orthos (http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/beta2.htm)

Test everyone liks, try superpi 1m test.

:slap:
not my question.
i asked if anyone and an explanation for my problem.

ADD. My system chrasches if i sets the FPS above 332x9
just getting it to 333x9 or 334x9 and im happy, hate to fry my CPU.

Try BIOS overclocking :slap:

Things to check:

Bios:
Use latest bios from the ASUS website.

RAM:
Because you probably use cheapo ram, set timings to 5-5-5-15 and let them run with devider to 1:1, set voltage to 2.1v to begin with.

temps:
Check temps with coretemp and check if temps are not going higher then 70 degrees.

Voltage:
Ingrease VMCH and Vcore to start with.

:hate to fry my CPU.

LOL, Frying aint possible, your mobo and cpu are good, maybe you destroy your cheap memory.

:slap:
guess i havent said that i also tried that..
in BIOS and sofware there is a limit of 332x9 . and some others AI features, that mess up the whole thing. FSB 960/800, FSB 1280/800 and up to FBS 1600/800, all of em chashes.

You said you have ASUS p5nSLI, well, there are 3 ASUS p5nSLI with differend chipsets.
Nooby stuff = nfocre 570 and nforce4.
good stuff = nforce680i

Which one do you have?, the nforce 570 or nforce4 won't clock high.
If you have the 680i, then it should be possible to clock much higher.

like ownage said, it really depends on your chipset, the 4 and 5 series nforce chipsets on intel really blew chunks, 680i should ateast get you past 350 safely. Check core temp and see if you are hitting a thermal wall, if the chip temp is above 65 celsius then I'd wager that could be a problem. You need to balance a stable vcore with a stable chip temperature, I've pushed past 3.8GHz with an E6400 on stock cooler but it was only stable for a few minutes under load. The box cooler is one of the worst heatsinks, ever.

:comp10:
well.
at attached picture(s) you can see its a n4 chipset.
and thoes who deliverd it said it sould be a 570.
either of them isent that good i see.
and about the memory, see attachments too.
hope someone can tell if they are either good or not.

Id like to know about the "timeing" of memory all talks about.
i had set memory voltage to 1.9 when clocked.
there are tons of the asked info on attached pictures.
thats why i made em.

I think you first should read the XS stickies before overclocking.
If i where you i would return the nf4 p4n32sli and ask for a better board with 965, 975 or 680i chipset.

too bad that i cant...
i bought it as a pre assembeld machine.
and i can only return in case of malfunction.
