-4GB of D9
-2x "8600GT" in SLi

Hopefully. Those are my upgrade "wants." Maybe an HD-DVD burner too.

XDD I'd stay with DDR2. The timings on DDR3 will be horrible for a wile. I don't know why on earth I'd buy DDR3 when my DDR2 can do 1.2ghz when the Cpu's only limiting it.

it will not become mainstream but it will become high end common ;)

Funny I'd yet to See Sub 40ns with DDR2 but yet I have seen 32ns access times for DDR3 2GB sticks

The 1st cpu for two reasons, so I can get my rig running if I can get it together soon for a LAN party in a couple months, also at that time won't have all the extra cards and will be using a cheap video card. Also the Sempron is only 1.6ghz and I want to see how close I can get to a 100% OC. Also it's only $40, so no big deal.

guess you dont know how to tune mems then.

i can easily get 9gb/s bw with 42ns latency. and thats with :banana::banana::banana:ty ocz pc6400. not even nice D9's or high bin stuff.

the closest thing i see on the horizon is 65nm X2 and a 8800GTS, and maybe some nice D9.

oh great, nn_step trying to make himself seem important again.

I thought the main purpose of forums was the discussion of "things"

I was wondering what firefly was too. I gave up after a google search brought up a tv show.

My upgrade paths? Don't know, I'm here looking still!

But if i have to do within a month:
c2d e6600
dfi infinity 975x
2gb ddr2
320gb seagate 7200.10
SATA DVD burner (need to get rid of that last ugly, fat, IDE cable!)
OR just get a second hand 939 dual core cpu and 2gb ddr1 that hopefullyy you folks will sell cheap :p:

When you pay no attention for a while to this stuff, it becomes a huge decision what to go for and when.

but he isnt discussing it. he is doing quite the opposite, and trying to provoke people by saying "hey guess what i know" but not telling anyone. its not like he is under NDA, no matter how much he tries to make it seem like he is.

what he does is for attention, not to provide usefull info to the forums.

Either 45nm Core 2(2007), or 45nm Core 3(2008). Depends on what the market looks like and what we need. Quadcores or dualcores, depends if its useful in games by then.
8GB DDR3, an x2900 I think, unless R600 looks really good.
And the P965 replacement, or the replacements replacement. And ICH9/10.

it is true, and it is quite obvious.

the fact that you have to resort to trying to attack my character shows more how you seem to already know it is true.

next time, if you want to refute something, you might want to do a bit more than call them names.

...And bringing it back on track...

I have just upped to a Conroe, clocked the nads off it and founf the only benefits are in benchmarks, and finding my AMDs still feel better for my needs.

In fact, I find AMDs better overall when oyu try loading them up... The AMDs just do their job as they should and the Intels just dont seem to hack it.

Will be going back to AMD soon enough, but at this time, I dont know enough about AMDs Quads to even consider them for a future option.

I might simply be looking for a really high end dual core FX etc as my next option, but also a good graphics card is something I have not had for some time, so CPU-wise, I have 12 seriously high end PCs so dont really see any real need for faster.

For now an X1900XT, my new monitor needs the horsepower and i can't wait until mid-range DX10 cards are out.
Then Either E6300/2GB, 65nm X2 or wait for the K8L.

I plan to buy at x-mas, so I will be interested in the AMD Quad core or an E6600. Darn I might have to wait for AMD. Oh well...

Sparky
11-30-2006, 04:41 PM
Eventually....
K8L most likely, or if not that then the next beast after that
R600
some good clocking mobo with a RD600 chipset to match the GPU
watercooling for it all :D

Probably keep my DVD burner, HD, and some stuff like that. If there is a newer much faster HD out there then I might get one of those for the OS.

i was thinking of upgrading on my current rig:
AMD 64 3200+ @ 2.55ghz 754
DFI NF3
6800
1GB memory...

should i upgrade to
AMD 64 X2? M2? or Intel e6300 or just wait for another year? im onto gaming like CS: source and BF 2142... what about the Video card? oh one more thing, can i still use my OCZ powerstream 520w?

1- DDR400 -> DDR2-800
2- ASRock 775Dual -> Abit AB9
3- Pentium D 805 -> E6300 or E4300

4- AM2+ board and a K8L Dual Core with L3 cache (Antares/Kuma) if it is all that we are hopping for.

115$ is a bit much. Its almost as much as the Cpu itself

My last computer i bought was a Opteron 265 130$ + a Nvidia Nforce 4 sli for 40$:).With that system i could use my old ddr 2700 modules from the athlonxp days and still get a very good output for Crunching:)

I think i will go Conroe when they release e4300 in January
That Proc should rule with high multi and low fsb.:woot:
And it should be possible to find more boards at clearance:)
