Hi guys, my first post here, and i hope to get and give some good advice. I have been trying to get my socket 939 X2 4200+ up to 2.8 stable, but so far i can only get it to boot into WIndows, it wont bench at that speed. I am aware that its not a good idea to use .5 multis, so, i need to know what i should be looking to do to make this as stable as possible. Im getting a Freezer 64 Pro for Xmas, and plan to Lap it, and im using Shin Etsu G751 thermal paste too. My temps have been up in the 50's when running two instances of Orthos. Hmmm, what have i missed? I havent done anything to the RAM timings, its on 1T. i have tried to keep my HTT LDT multi in the below 2000 range. BUt it won't bench at all. I wasnt running a fan over my RAM either, so im aware of the fact that my cooling was pretty lax.

Heres a screenie for a little bit of info:

So, any and all ideas welcome.

TIA:)

OKay, resounding response then. Ok, well so far i have managed a whopping 2.762mhz, 250fsbx11 with the RAM running 1/1@1T,2,2,2,7, and an LDTx FSB of 4. I have 1.6vcore and 3.4 vdimm. Chipset is at 1.5, LDT volts are @ 1.5. And my max load temp is 51c. I have used ORTHOS to test out stability, and after 8 hours of stressing the CPU it came back fine with no errors, likewise after 8 hours of stressing the RAM> I have just recieved my Lapping kit, and eagerly await my Freezer 64 PRo so i can grind it smooth and do the same to my CPU. Maybe get my temps down enough to get 2.8ghz on the CPU.

Just managed this. High temps (near 60c when running orthos, but all looks good. Lapping Kit and Freezer 64 Pro standing by.
