View Full Version : Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 system to a TV

Hey All, I would like to use my surround sound 5.1 computer speakers on my TV. What do I have to do to make this work? Thanks for any help, Tom.
Without a computer next to the TV it is not possible to get 5.1 sound because the Klipsch setup uses analog inputs from the sound card and has no Digital in for a pre amp.

Huh? I thought the Klipsch used analog 5.1 so any 5.1 output from a controller box (decoder) should work. I saw a Toshiba expansion thing that allows for a analog input to go into 5.1 speakers. I have not tried that with mine yet I just run them from the PC. but I know they tried selling me that toshiba expansion thing as a package with the speakers for $300 canadian.

You need a digital decoder to use the Klipsch /w TV.
I was thinking about the same and decided to get this after I found out that Klipsch DD-5.1 decoder is no longer available :

It's a wonderful alternative /w cheaper price and more options, not to mention it supports DTS extend surround sound.

My old promedia 5.1's have coaxial and optical and worked fine with a dvd player but with tv I had to use the analog and it wasn't true 5.1 was a prologic up mix.

you can hook it to anything i have that and the 5.1 ultras i use that decoder for ...
dvd players with fiber optic out dd5.1 and dts
xbox fiber optic out dd5.1
xbox360...
also comes with a switchbox for pc/other a remote the only device problem is everytime you power cycle (on/off) you have to turn off a option everytime for quiet listening.... you will know what i mean when you get it
only other good option is the klipsch decoder ... running through you pc... ect
