I'm extremely picky about monitors. My other LCD is an NEC 1980FXi 19", which is truly great for both text and image. I bought a Dell 24" LCD, which has a Samsung panel and returned it because of washed-out colors and poor text.

After going through lots of reviews, I ordered a SONY P234 LCD for $749 from newegg about 3 months ago and have been extremely happy ever since. I'm driving this baby with a X1900 GT at 1920x1200 via the DVI.

Pros:
-Ultra sexy style: The LCD itself is an art.
-Clear, clear, laser-sharp text. I'm especially impressed with the quality of black text.
-Vibrant colors.
-Fast responses: I haven't noticed any ghosting when playing games.
-Wide viewing angle.
-Very cool control buttons that appear and disappear with a gentle touch.
-Ability to remember 4 birhgtness/contrast/back light settings.
-Highly uniform brightness even in corners.

Con
-No height adjustment.

No wonder this monitor used to sell for $1,500. This is the best $750 that I spent for my computing needs. The high end LG/Phillips panel this LCD uses absolutely kills Samsung panels that I tested.

It is a breath-taking experience to play games like Company of Heros, Sturmovik, Oblivion & Brothers in Arms on this monitor. If you're looking for a WS LCD that has no weaknesses in image/text quality, check this out.

1150 Euro? Wow, that's too much. Why is the price so high in Europe?

That is a nice monitor, it was very expensive when it was first released. But its over 2 years old and there are other monitors available now with more current technology. For example the new gateway 24" 1080p monitor.

Gateway 24" (http://accessories.gateway.com/AccessoryStore/PC+Accessories_316441/Monitors_316684/LCD+_Q1_Flat+Panel_Q1_+Monitors_316694/22_PL1_+inch+LCD_381956/1540522R_ProdDetail?seg=hm)

It has 2 composite inputs, dvi, and vga. Thats all for about $700.

Don't take this as thread crapping cause its not. Sony lcds are some of the best but since sony got out of the computer lcd business this monitor may be someones last chance at a great panel.

I would just want my 24" lcd panel to at least have composite and 1080p is a great extra.

ooo....I might have to take a stab at that gateway. I read somewhere that Samsung has the lowest dead pixels rate coming out of the factory then any other brand.

Wow...that Gateway will be great...as I have 2 of their 21" and they're freaking awesome. No complain and the best picture quality I've seen so far.

Well that is an S-IPS panel, which is known for good image quality. I'm waiting for this LG 24" S-IPS panel to hit the market aswell.

So you had the Dell 2407WFP and it turned out to be a dissapointment (as in bad text, dull colors)? I was under the imperssion that those Dells were pretty damn good.

Geez, I don't know what 24" moniter to get now... Both the Sony and Gateway look good.

edit: Just saw the BenQ FP241W and it looks like a winner. And it's priced around the same as the Dell.... hrmm.....

The reason your 2407 probably looked awful is because DELL ships both a S-IPS and S-PVA version of the monitor. Apparently the S-PVA monitors look awful. It's hard to get the S-IPS panel from what I hear.

Despite the fact that you may have had a S-PVA panel, was it really that bad looking?

Also, the Gateway 24" LCD does look sweet! It has a hell of price to beat! I want to hear what owners are saying about it.
