Hi all,
Just put together 2 new e6300 systems, one with the gigabyte S3 and one with the ASUS P5B-E. The S3 read temps around 37*c which sounds right but this P5B-E reads at 48-50*c idle in bios and with asus probe.
The P5B-E is running with 0306 bios. Is it possible that the bios reads temps wrong? I know there is a newer version out, 0601 but didn't want to flash unless necessary.
I have it mildly overclocked to 2.5 for now as I want to resolve this temp issue first.
I'm using stock hs/f until I can get a scythe infinity.
Thank you for your thoughts in advance.

it could be possible that one cpu is more concave than the other one. also could be the temps r reading higher than they really r. try coretemp and see wut that says

The Asus P5B has a tendency to rad high temps... at leat mine reports my CPU to be @ 38C but my water is a cool 17C.

I tried core temp and it read 43/42 on both cores. Is this proggy supposed to be more accurate? Also isn't 43 still kind of high for an e6300 @2.5 with no voltage changes and a stock hs/f?

I don't trust Coretemp or Asus probe... its just stupid that the board is practically reporting temps close to twice of what I expect... currently @ 24C idle with a water temperture of 12C... this is @ 3ghz with 1.3v.
I'm gonna sell this board soon and buy a 975X equipped board or a 680i board... It's illogical that most people with 975X chipset have tempds fluctuating between 20-30C and mine doesn't go lower that 24C with a chiller.

Thanks Luis, I think a good 680i board would be 733t!!!! Anandtech currently has that listed as the best enthusiast chipset. Now I'll just wait for an affordable board.
