signature creator released

As hwbot's new signature creator will soon be released to public, we'd like to get some feedback.

Automatically updated signatures with stats are usually quite dull, so we're basing our signature engine on templates which can be modified as much as you want.

Things you can change:
text: font, size, style, transparancy, outline, outline color, ...
background: color, transparancy, image (ideal for team logo), image scaling, image stretching, image x,y offset, border
content:
whether or not to display user info/rank/points/top scores/global awards/hardware awards
whether or not to display team info/rank/points/top scores/slogan
orientation: each kind of text/image can be chosen to put in one of the 9 orientations (top,center,bottem : left - middle - right) or at a specific x,y coordination

I think these parameters allows you to create the signature you want. : )

Crap, good point. I forgot about the slogan. :D Currently only one image is supported. I hope that will suffice for the begining.

Something you'd change about the default template?
Color depth option: 8 bit (256 colors) or 24 bit (16M colors).
Current size of 24-bit picture (with default background) is 61Kb, but if I convert it manually to 8-bit - looks the same but 4 times smaller size (15Kb).

The signature templating engine is indeed available for production. Click your user profile @hwbot.org to use it. : )

known issues:
- verdana bold font not installed on server, the users nickname/team & points are not in the correct font atm.
- caching not up and running yet. currently it's generated at request, but this will put too much load on the server if it gets popular. It may load slowly untill the caching system is put into place.
- transparancy issues with global trophies (they're a bit larger than the hw trophies)
- signature will not show untill the first member ranking is calculated, which happens every 6h

The last 2 bugs will be fixed at 6PM +1GMT.

Did you just register / verify your login before trying the signature? I refreshed the member points and now it shows up correctly.

The calculation of the member points happens only once each 6h. If you don't want to wait that long, donate me a decent server. :P

The default template chooses your best achievement, based on the number of hwboints you recieved for that score. As scoring 12.5k is in 3Dmark06 (very popular benchapp) is more of an achievement as being first in PCMark04 (rather unpopular benchapp), it has chosen to shown your 3d06 score instead.

The custom templates engine is working already, but I haven't created the GUI to modify the templates yet. You'll have to wait a while if you want custom signatures. :)


@S_A_V: thanks for the tip! It's still 24bit for now, but i enabled jpeg compression to 85%, which nearly looks the same, but compresses to +- 15 - 20kb.

Just fixed:
- global awards: background is transparant
- team slogan: if available it's displayed below the team name
- fixed bug when no member rankings have been calculated yet
- image caching: signature is generated every hour

Don't know what killed the server, not sure that it's the signature engine as it generates the images only once an hour, not on the fly.

I can't reboot it untill I come home from work tonight, sorry guys. It will be down for approx another 3 hours.
