Nice rig. By next week my CLT's should be at 3.33ghz/1333 FSB, so you'll have some competition ;)

What kind of PSU is recommended for a rig like that? Minimum power, etc. Single large 12V rail? dual 12V or more rails, etc.? Brands, suggestions?

crunching with one drive and a cdrom a 560 watt is fine I think.
remember, factories when they give the "suggested" PSU's have to figure in the max your using. We're not going near that with crunchers.;)

If I was to build a rig like that I think it might be my main rig...

Think more drives. Then again, I'm not a heavy duty vidcard kinda guy so less is needed for that.

Been reading FB-DIMMS take some wattage ( and generate heat, too ). What I was reading was talking about upwards of an addititonal 40W or so for 4 DIMMS, unless I read wrong.

Check coolalers thread in intel section on kentsfield requriements under when oc'd and loaded. With two of 'em in one sys and the possiblity that you might actually want to use such an awesome beast for something other than crunching, I personally would not want to skimp on the psu.

I like these because they're quiet, efficient and have one good 12v rail (49A): pcp&c 610 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817703005)

Or its slighter bigger brother with 60A rail: pcp&c 750 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817703006)

I'm running a generic 760w that came with my case, definately need to upgrade it once I upgrade to SLi, but its doing the trick for now.

I believe the recommended for my board is 600w using woodcrests, but CLT's draw more power.... I'm gonna go 750 or 1000 when I get a new PSU. I dont think the recommended takes SLi into account.

Oh and say hello to 3ghz:

That is a monster of a work station(or gaming rig for that matter). Looking forward to seeing the output of it.
