View Full Version : 300 new crunchers in 30 days start 10/24/06

So the 300 in 30 was not possible and I knew that but just to encourage. Either way I would like this thread to live on so we know what is online and helping us kick the shiz out of every one above us.

Please list like this what you are adding. (in blue please)

Mysticmerlin's
1. E6300 @ 1.9 - 1gig Ram - ECS mobo (crap board) :(
2. 3000+ @ 2.2 - 2x512 ram - Abit UL8 mobo
3. T-Bird @ 1.33 - 2x256 Ram

You get the point. Make's it easyer to count.

Please: Only put up the one's you have running online and crunching.

By the way:
Let's try for 300 ( in 30 )...might still be a challenge. If we all agree. Let's start a new thread and start counting.

Well, this is after the 100 in 15 days; actually it went up yesterday ( before the 24th ), but I'm claiming it, not gonna fall between the cracks on a technicality... :D

#13~~ One E6400 with 1 GB RAM, currently, in a Biostar TForce P965PT. Currently loafing at 2.5+.

(temporary >> a "loaner") ~~ I also put up, yesterday, an E6600 in an Intel 965 board that will not OC ( &*^%#$^!!! ). It will be with me for the next two weeks.

~~~~~~~~~
I also ordered some fixin's last night...
Not a rig, but not for planting in the garden either. :p:
I'm saving up for a Core2Duo system. I have ram , PSU and a videocard , i only need a mobo/cpu and an HD.
You could say i'm an AMD fanboy , my last intel cpu was a P3 500 :D
How's the Biostar TForce P965PT , Serlv ?
Is it a good overclocker , how much FSB did you get ? It's only 120€ , would be great for a cheap cruncher :hehe:
Other than my dual Xeons, which I got for D2OL, my last Intel was dual Celeron 366's and an Abit BP-6.
The Biostar? Shows promise. Still learning it. I hosed my freshly installed OS ( probably my bad ), so late last night I installed another. Then, this morning I imaged it, so if I hose it again it will take me only minutes to get back up and running.
Just got home from work, so I haven't had time to mess with it ( and I hav to go back out for most of the rest of the evening ).
At any rate, I need to to change the BIOS to the BIOS the Stilt uses and then spend some time with it.
Bottom line is - I don't know yet. Jury is still out. I've heard good things, but... I need to spend some time with it. It ( an E6400 ) is running at around 2700 right now. I have to get some time with it. Later, gotta go.
Put up another system tonight ( well, installing OS right now... ) Its a C2D, E6400 in an Asus P5B-E ( 1.01G :( ). Cooling is a TT Big Typhoon. RAM is Patriot DDR2 667 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220095); I have 1 gig stick in there for now, but it will be running 2 gigs.
http://members.cox.net/vserl/tt%20bt%20mounted,%20RAM%20in,%20VC%20in.jpg
This a new Big Typhoon, not a reused one. Though it is not the new VX model ( where the hell do you find them, anyway? ), TT has made a few little improvements. One of those is they now use thumbscrews instead of those infernal nuts. Still awkward to tighten them down, but better than the little nuts.
http://members.cox.net/vserl/thumbscrews%20and%20socket.jpg
edit - Alright, let me fix the numbers.
Also, took the NB cooler off to look at its' goop. Pitiful contact, stardard buuble gum crap that Asus uses. I cleaned it up and off and put Ceramique in its' place. And you're right, its' at 3.2 for now as I ran out of time to mess with it, had to go to sleep for work. I'm still sick and I need rest. I have a feeling I'll be doing 12 hour days for a while now. While working my day off on Saturday they were telling the guys on the OT Desired List ( who were on their regular day ) that they had to stay 4 hours OT.
I'd love to see some math on that.
If Winders does 15@200, per/day ( 3000 ) and Linux does close, say 22@125, per/day ( 2750 ). I'd say that'd be close enough to move a box or two back to Linux. If the total points, per day, is close, like 8-12%, then I'd definitely like to run Linux a bit.
Anybody know how close it is?
I will eventually run more machines, probably with Linux. Right now, I have a dual-boot with XP Pro and Ubuntu, so I can switch back and forth pretty easily. I switched back to XP today. Production is up slightly, but no dramatic difference. My main reason for using Linux has more to do with my growing disgust with Microsoft.;)
"In order to address issue #1 (less pts per wu compared to other OS's) we have sent our findings to Dr David Anderson at BOINC. He said that they will be compiling the Linux agent in the 5.8 release with optimizations that are comparable to the optimizations used on the other platforms. This should allow the credit claimed by Linux to match the other platforms. This new version should be available with 6 weeks or so."
I dont think OSX has the same problems as the linux benchmarks, though maybe I'm wrong?:confused:
I havent really compared my benchmarks, though they all seem equally abysmal without optimizations. My 2.66 Woody, scores like 24XX/24XX which blows dead donkeys, but it chews through the WU's pretty expeditiously so maybe it will help OSX.
Edit: Upon closer inspection, I'm claiming half of what i'm granted so it obviously does have liabilities. Wish I looked at this sooner...
I think Poland will develop very quickly since they're part of the European community now. Give it 5 to 10 years and Poland is on the same level as the other european countries.
