Hey guys sorry to rain on this parade a lil but that is a confusing descption is says T-Bred but I think its a palamino core, the T-Bred would be model AXDA2200 not AX2200.

the pic sure looks like a tbred ;)

Yes, but it also specifically says "Thoroughbred"

I don't think Newegg would make such a mistake, i guess we'll have to wait and see what Randi gets :)

Odered one as well as the the 'see it' pic show one specifically id'ed as axda.

Label reads: AXDA2200SKV3C
AIRDA0222WPEW

I checked the other cpus and this is something they do not do on the others. This cpu carrys the above label.

I have been arguing that point also until today....I argued the AX2200DMT3C indeed points to a Pali 2200...but earlier today they updated their info and inserted "Thoroughbred" and posted a T-Bred pic with the ad. I think originally they intended to handle some Pali 2200's....but ended up with T-Breds instead:) I'll find out soon I guess..lol... have 7 days to ship it back if it's a Pali:)

mricee, at least I am in good company. Do tell..opinion. I have read the reviews as have all. An interesting thing to ask though is: In your, Opp's, dd's, etc opinions, what would be the effect on the small core using somewhat more extreme oc'ing. I.E. bong cooled 226w pelt? Might this maybe change the outlook somewhat on the oc. Is it a valid statement that it might seriously change the oc'ing ability of the processor? If the heat might be removed then might the .13 come to life on the small core? I am beginning to wonder on this one. I understand on the xp's but this one might respond differently.

Silver:)

That a great point and one I've been pondering since reading the lackluster O/C reviews of the samples provided the websites. Most were aircooled. My son had an XP1600+ AGOGA Y that he ran on air and I fed it -30c coolant. He had trouble approaching 1700Mhz with a Swiftech MC370 and delta....I was benching 3Dmark with the same chip at 1915Mhz. So indeed its possible to take any chip much higher with supercooling. We'll soon see what kind of potential these new cpu's possess. The jury is still out in my opinion:)

And I am wondering if it might be even more dramatic in this instance. I realize I might be dreaming however in many cases (for me on a ti4400) 2.2Ghz and I am playing with the top intels.

The decrease in core size would not seem to have as dramtaic an effect on extreme cooling (compared to air) as well. I am presently running a 1/4" cold plate.

MrIcee
06-19-2002, 03:23 PM
It could very well be more dramatic...we won't know how these chips react until OPP and I and others get them running under supercooled conditions. My interest is to find out how high they'll clock without having to resort to 2.00+ volts. 2.2Ghz of AMD with high FSB and aggressive memory timings may give you the surprise of your life:)

Thye must be back in stock cause I just got confirmation from Newegg of my order. The one amdmd.com got up to 2123 on air was a AIRCA and this one in the pic is an AIRDA so it is a later stepping at least. The ones on CBWnet were about $30 less expensinve, but they weren't in yet this a.m. and I have no patience!

That is a much later week, and apparently a (better?) different stepping from the ones I saw at all the review sites..... cant wait for results :)

Outside of Manlius which is outside of Syracuse. Buffalo is not too terribly far away. I too lived (and owned a house) in Phoenix. Worked for Karsten Mfg. for a number of years.

Received today brown, AIRDA week 0223 from Newegg. L1 bridges do not have channel. I guess they need to be closed. I'll test it later tonight.

He never tryed to close the bridges with a pencil or conductive material yet from what I can see.

Maybe we should try to connect the L1's anyway. I looked under a magnifying glass and regardless of what the multimeter says, they don't have the "just below the surface" wires that the MP's have when there is no channel and the L1's are connected. Since this is the method that the review sites used, maybe it will work anyway, unless they changed the lcoking specs between review chips and production.

MrIcee
06-21-2002, 08:44 AM
OPP:)

You're absolutely right. He didn't connect the bridges...he just assumed that if they weren't lasered..they're connected. The reason they lasered the bridges on the Palomino was to prevent endusers from unlocking them easily via pencil, conductive ink, etc., such as was accomplished on the T-birds.

In essence..if he had read some of those reviews thoroughly..he'd have seen that they closed the bridges to unlock them.In my opinion..this is a great day for AMD users...as easy unlocking makes AMD top choice for high FSB overclocking...and the average hobbyist will be able to do it themselves again.

this is why I mentioned it. He stated:

The L1s are not cut, I tested them with a multimeter, but the proc is still locked. Its going to take some pokeing around to figure out how to unlock the tbreds, The L1s don't work any more

Tested with a multimeter, um, not good.
