Hi guys, my parents are moving house and have decided that its time for a new TV & audio system. As a result I'm doing a bit of research into HTPC stuff and found Sapphires X1600 Pro HDMI, which has S/PDIF in to allow sound to be transmitted out the HDMI port along with the video signal. I also plan on including some decent surround sound speakers in the package. So my question is, with the X-Fi (any variant), would it be possible to create profiles which enable and disable (or set volume to 0) specific ports on the X-Fi? That would mean I could create a set of profiles that allow sound to be played from the TV and surround sound speakers, just the TV, or just the surround sound. If the X-Fi wont do the job but you know of another soundcard which will, please suggest it!

Thanks!

please dont buy a Creative card, for your ears sake.

go for either M-Audio Audiophile 192 or even AuzenTech's Xplosion.
