I'm wondering what kind of Temp difference I would get between a Black Ice Pro II Extreme and a Thermchill HE120.3

Many thx in advance.

The HE is a little better all around....both are barely decent with low-RPM fans though. MCR is probably the best 'cheap' radiator series for flexible fannage (low RPM to high RPM....performs admirably through the range, but isn't the best at low and isn't the best at high either).

The PA is incredible in that, with half the noise, it can do what other radiators do....to a point. With considerable airflow, it's not the best, even falling a little behind the MCRs with the same airflow I'd bet (but definitely falling behind the HEs w/ enough airflow).

EDIT: also of note is the fact that the PAs have the lowest restriction....

PAs have BY FAR the lowest restriction. If I remember right, a PA will restrict your flow about 1/3 of what 90% of other PC rads will.

Correction, the PA rads beat all competition including the HE series at 0-150CFM.

Is there any visible/cosmetic difference between the PA and HE?

Correction, the PA rads beat all competition including the HE series at 0-150CFM.

Read here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77260.Up to 150CFM? I don't see that....maybe 150CFM over the entire rad, not per fan (that's about right actually....YLs at 1200 RPM are ~50CFM a piece). Cathar even finds in his testing that above 100CFM other rads begin to catch up....as Thermochill even states in everything they've ever written about it.

Anyway, there is some visible difference, the PA is a bit thicker, different paint (though I think the new ones go back to the old style?), the fin density is visibly lower, and a few other minor things.

you probably won't see a big enough difference to get a higher overclock.

you could on the otherhand run your fans much slower and get roughly the same temps running in near silence.
